  1. I hate the wind knots. I switched back to Mono on my Frog rod because of them. After fishing with mono again a few times looks like I am going to have to live with the wind knots. Hook set just isn't the same when the casts get long.
  2. Thanks for the starting points. I am no expert but am fairly proficient with a BC. Got enought to get started with.
  3. I just picked up a Curado 201E7. Any tips on adjusting the Cast Control and Variable Brake System. Which one do you set first. On my ABUs I used to set the cast Control so the lure would make a controled fall when the release was depressed. There was no VBS on them. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. First thing you need to determine is the max drag the reel has. Second you need to make sure that the nax drag capability of the reel does not exceed that of the rod. From there I just set it depending on the situation.
  5. Thanks for the feedback. Can't wait to get the combo on the water. Picked up the Avid in Med yesterday. Cast very well. Now I need to check the power this weekend.

  7. I am looking at a St Croix Avid to match up with a Shimano Curado. It will be used for general bass fishing throwing worms, frogs and spinner baits. Just can't decide whether to go with the medium action or medium heavy. It will be in 7' length. Most bass will be in the 2# class but in some of the ponds 4-7# are common.
