  1. For $928 its all yours. I read the manual and apparently this reel is so incredible that bass only :)over 8 pounds magically appear on your hook regardless of the bait choice on every single cast. I think I will pick one up for myself. I do believe we have unlocked the secrets of bass fishing. And here it was in Japan all of this time.
  2. I don't know to what level people are aware of the issues Ethanol causes on outboards. My father has a three year old Suzuki that is meticulously maintained. With less than 60 hours on it, it is in the shop being overhauled. Carbs, injectors, complete flush all due to Ethanol. Even with an external fuel filter, if your performance has gone down, perhaps there are other issues. His mechanic said it is really becoming an issue. His mechanic recommended StarTron.
  3. It is true, that you can afford what you can afford. I will tell you that I bought an Eagle Fishmark 320. I have had it for two years, and all I was ever able to use it for was the water temp and my depth. About 3 weeks ago, I read the manual again as well as some articles on getting the most out of your fish finder. I now realize what my depth finder can do, and if I had not spent the time really playing around and understanding it, I would have just continued using it for my depth. That finder has pretty good reviews. And that is my two cents. Google Eagle fishmark 320
  4. I caught my first bass on a jig and yum chunk. It was also the first bass I had ever caught with a baitcaster. This was a huge win for me. What is funny, is that we are able to post these on bassresource and you know that other anglers can appreciate it. I got a blank stare from my wife when I told her. She was really impressed. (kidding)
  5. Good luck withh your baitcaster. There is plenty of good information on tips and suggestions for your baitcaster, but a lot of it you have to discover for yourself. I bought my first baitcaster in June and found myself repeatedly getting frustrated and putting it away. It literally was not until last week that I spent two hours over the course of the week casting it. I used my baitcaster on my boat this past Wednesday night for about two hours. I caught my first bass on my baitcaster and that was a huge win for me. Now I want another one. Here is what worked for me. One handed casts. Cast overhead at an angle. Keep your thumb diagonally across the spool. Let the rod do the work. Muscling it does NOT make you cast further. Good luck. :-/
  6. Again with Suffix. Great castability, strength and low memory.
  7. My friend and I started fishing nights a couple of years ago and I have a few suggestions. I went to the dollar store and bought about 5 push button lights. They have 3 led's that give off plenty of light. I put a small piece of Velcro on the back and that allowed me to stick these anywhere on the boat that has carpet. Bugs are a pain and I am now going to temporarily mount some underneath my seat so that the light shines down. Also there are numerous hand held lights out there that have a spotlight feature that can help you spot check shore. The Dollar store also has clip on visor lights for your hat. Good luck and be safe.
  8. Welcome my friend. You will gather insightful clues that hopefully will unlock the secrets of bass fishing. With a little luck, patience, smart decisions, and the use of proven methods the fish gods will be good to you.
  9. Good to see ya! Welcome to an awesome site.
  10. I fish thick lily pads. My baitcaster is spooled with 20# braid which so far gets the fish out a majority of the time. The problem is that braid destroys the action of the bait because it floats. In the wind, forget it, the braid is like a sail. I used to use a heavier mono, but lost way too many in the thick. Would a fluorocarbon work better, or is there a braid that doesn't float so much? thanks for your help.

  12. Hello, I've been fishing for 15 years, but have really dove into it for the last 3. Moderate and inconsistent success. I am trying to be a more versatile fisherman, and I try different techniques but do not give them the time to determine their effectiveness. I fish small local tournaments and have very inconsistent results. Looking to learn from everyone.
