  1. Conroe, Texas, just north of Houston. Its a private 2 acre lake.
  2. What was the lake temp prior to the week long cold front? ~82 degrees After the cold front? ~78 (Im in texas, we went from the mid 80's to mid 70's during the day, and that lasted about a week) What did the warm front do to water temps? -Dont know, warm front just came through yesterday, rain just left, will be fishing this evening. Heres the deal. Even though you may have a 60 degree day with lake temps sitting at 50 degrees, How much would the lake warm with one day of sunshine? -Have no clue The key to remember is, the sun is getting further away in the fall and winter months and the NIGHTs ARE LONGER which means longer cooling periods and less sunshine means less heat. We start having longer nights and short days. It really depends on the water temps. Warming trends definetly trigger some feeding activity. Just don't assume that just because you have above average winter temps the fish will be active, it takes alot of heat to warm gin clear waters. -I fish 2 acres waters that have clarity between 3-4 feet deep, with water depths reaching 10-12 feet in areas Lakes start to warm up when the days get longer and the nights get shorter and the sun is nearing our part of the hemisphere again.
  3. If you have a week or so of solid cool-cold weather, does a warm front kick the fish into gear, or does it throw them off?
  4. How has the bouyancy been affected b ythe addition of the nail polish? Are you still capable of running the advertised depths, or rather are you still capable of reaching the depths you were able to before the modifications?
  5. I agree with RW. BPS will go to the lowest bidder to have a product made, then slap their logo on it and sell it for more. I can't justify paying more for a product than its worth, only because of a logo.
  6. Larger trailers displace more water. One way to lok at it is that the larger trailers have to push more water out of the way to get where they are going, and therefore the resistance encountered causes them to drop slower generally. Also, density plays a very large role and different colors have different denities so make sure you are comparing trailers of the same brand and color.
  7. while your in the south, go to Academy, much cheaper on most things, but it doesnt have the HUGE selection like BPS. Good luck finding the right equipment and write a review on the equipment you get!
  8. i've noticed a smooth cast helps a lot. If I whip the rod back really fast, then whip it forward all of a sudden, the lure sometimes tangles in the line. If i reach back smoothly and transition smoothly into my forward swing instead of abruptly changing direction, then my lures dont get near as tangled up. I hope that helps if that makes any sense at all.

  10. I just started getting into Large Mouth bass around February/March of this year. I live in Conroe, Texas and my john boats and paddles just dont cut it. If anybody is looking for a back seat filler, I can help out with gas or whatever might be needed.
  11. A 15lb plus was pulled out of there earlier this year. I live in conroe so I will probably show up. Odd thing though, I have never fished lake conroe.
  12. Whats a good weedless jig head for larger creature baits. I prefer Zoom Brush Hogs which have a reasonably thick body, but I havent really found a jig that I like very much. What weedless jig are you all using for your large creature bait fishing lures.
  13. I was planning on using both for a shaky head jig setup. Has anybody had any luck doing so?
  14. Dam + Rocks = Football head crawfish jig. Keep the jig out of the current and slow crawl it over the rocks.
  15. thanks for the great replies so far guys, I apprecaite it!
  16. WHats the main difference between these two baits as far as use is concerned? When would you use one as opposed to the other, and what type of fishing were each of the types originally designed for?
  17. Good looking Lure. There is a LARGE variance of the Baby Bass color on crank baits. Some of the most realistic are obviously custom jobs though. Rapala Norman Lures Moab Heddon Bomber Bandit
  18. I pulled a very small bass out of a pond recently and started looking into lures with baby bass colorations, figuring that as small as this one was, I'm sure that larger bass would be willing to eat him. I found a few videos of people catching decent bass with baby bass colored lures, particularly the Rapala DT series in Baby Bass, but I never hear much on this board or any other boards with regards to this bait color selection. Its always sexy shad or some color similar in appearance. Has anybody had any luck with Baby Bass colored lures like the Rapala DT series or Bandit series?
  19. I always tell the wife im buying something and I expect her to do the same, it keeps us both honest. However, if she throws a fit, then I add up, out loud, how many starbucks my wife has bought recently, and if the monthly cost of her vice totals more than the monthly cost of my vice (new lures), then I feel obligated to balance the scales . Its only fair
  20. thanks guys. I'm fishing in a pond that is approximate 1.5-2 acres. It is deep in areas, but a tremendous amount of cover close to the banks with numerous lay downs, pads, weeds, etc. Ive been knocking them dead with frogs for the past 2 months, and now the frog bite is ZERO. Im assuming that the fish have learned about the frog by now, haha. ANyways, I think that the spook and the torpedo are good top waters that put out quite a bit noise and will be very helpful, just trying to figure out what color now. Thank you for all the helpful information guys, I appreciate it a lot.
  21. I fish a lot of tainted water. Its clear, but has a brown tint to it and I can see about 3 feet down before losing outlines. I am looking into getting some Heddon Torpedo's, but I have no clue what color to go with. Any suggestions? Same thing goes for Zara Spook, any color suggestions there?
  22. A ZOOM Fluke, not the ZOOM Super fluke and not the ZOOM Tiny Fluke. Just a regular ZOOM fluke. Thanx for the information guys.
  23. What brand and size weighted hooks do you all use on your flukes? I am using a ZOOM Fluke but I'm not sure what size weighted hook I should use.
  24. I'm in the same situation and would really like to read the replies regarding this.
