Baby Bass colored Crankbaits

Featured Replies

I pulled a very small bass out of a pond recently and started looking into lures with baby bass colorations, figuring that as small as this one was, I'm sure that larger bass would be willing to eat him.  I found a few videos of people catching decent bass with baby bass colored lures, particularly the Rapala DT series in Baby Bass, but I never hear much on this board or any other boards with regards to this bait color selection.  Its always sexy shad or some color similar in appearance.

Has anybody had any luck with Baby Bass colored lures like the Rapala DT series or Bandit series?

Yes

Whether or not it's just the combination of greens and blacks that are in so many other fish, or that bass like to eat little bass, it's a pretty consistent color.

It's just not popular because it's been around forever (like firetiger) and it doesn't have the "latest greatest" kind of hype behind it.

ive had luck (for lack of a better word) with baby bass colored plastics and cranks.

Green and varieties of green are my favorite lure colors.

"Baby Bass" can be several combinations, shades and

blends. The Lucky Craft Pointer in Baby Bass is what I

use for comparison, but it doesn't even resemble a bass!

8-)

If your not fishing BABY BASS colors/patterns your wrong!!!

Good looking Lure. There is a LARGE variance of the Baby Bass color on crank baits. Some of the most realistic are obviously custom jobs though.

This is what I am waiting for Castaic to produce, their platinum series baby bass is phenominal (the second picture).

I'm certainly not going to knock the baby bass color, but let's keep it in perspective, it's one of countless colors that can be very effective.

I believe the MattLures Co. just released a Baby Bass Hardbait, and it is beyond sick. This color works on my trips out!

Um, hate to tell ya this, but Baby Bass isn't worth a hoot. Send all those lures to me, I can repaint them.......LOL. I love Baby Bass in just 'bout everything. Just don't throw a  Heddon torpeo in this color. Its not good for the bills. Cardiologist are expensive!!! One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet is Wtrmln/Pearl lamanite stickbaits. These are the #1 Big Bass producer for me this year.

And the baby bass super flukes are bad, too :(

Bomber has another baby bass color that I really like, other than the one you shown. I do well on baby bass shad raps, baby bass rat l traps, and bass colored husky jerks.

Lure type matters way more than paint. If you are doing fine on cranks, then a BB finish will be fun but not likely to add much beyond what other basic two-tone baitfish colors would do.

If you are not catching then you should switch lure types entirely.

I have experienced years with big bass hatches that affected the feeding habits of the larger bass. Downsized lures made a huge difference in catch rate. I've done well under this scenario with 1-1/2" jigs on UL tackle and 3" streamer flies with fly-tackle. These lures out-fished conventional sized stuff enormously.

Well if you ever caught any you would see one that looked like that  :(

The name of the color is Natural Bass.  I've seen bass that came out of muddy water that were the color of sand with all of their markings muted, and I have seen bass that came out of thick grass that were so dark green that they looked black.  They come in all shades my friend.   :)

LOL.  Come on, you know it's just joking right?

my mistake    sorry  i should have known better anyone in the  a.force   has to be a good guy

:(  Thanks KB but I'm just a no good, unemployed, bass fishing mooch who is living off his wife who is in the Air Force.  Seriously though I just have a sarcastic streak in me and my typing comes out the wrong way some times.  It was my mistake. :-[

i should have said any man or women thats in the a.f has to be good.

as the rest of it  it sound like we  would make great friend. sure wish we lived closer.
