  1. Next I attached some softening thingies (technical term) to the bottom of the mount for the fish finder to help limit vibration. You can use many different things but these can be found at any hardware store.
  2. I thought I would take some pics as I was going along. Hopefully, this will help with some like me searching for answers. Again, this is where I started with my 12' tracker topper Jon Boat.
  3. Here another of the area I plan on drilling the holes for the transducer. The sheet metal on these boats isn't very thick. I think I will add a piece of plywood to strengthen the inside.
  4. Awesome, thanks Wayne. I may try mine up a little higher than directly even with the bottom of the boat (like 1/2 inch). I'm going to head to Greentop this afternoon because I broke my second St. Croix rod out there and see if they have any wisdom. I'll likely try the install tonight. There are no mounting holes on the Tracker Toppers. See pics.
  5. Great, thanks guys. I like the idea of the board with the hole drilled above the water line. Has anyone actually seen one or have a picture of one with the transducer mounted directly to the transom like the manual suggests? Like I said, not having a ton of luck finding pics with my searchs. Is this because most of the boats sank before they could take a picture?
  6. Thank you for the info. I wonder why they didn't try to sell me that at Bass pro when I bought it Saturday in Charlotte? Yes, I told them I had just bought a topper 12 from the Bass Pro in Richmond. So do most people just not drill holes through the transom and make sure they use a ton of sealant when mounting? I've googled about every combo of words and not coming up with a lot of luck.
  7. I bought a eagle this weekend and plan on installing it this week. Has anyone else done this? I would love to see pictures. Also, what do you do with the wire for the transducer? Bring it up and over the back? Here's a pic of the back of my boat. Thank you for any help.
  8. It was a good night. Start off slow until I found a good spot. Got 10 fish from about 630 to 815. Don't have a fish finder yet so I don't know water temp. Start off a little windy and air temp was about 72. Wind died down and it was glass. Averaged over 2 pounds. Two biggest were 3.8# and 3.9# at 18 and 19 inches. Missed about 3 getting hung up on structure. Pulled once and thought I was stuck on a log until the log pulled back and slammed my pole on the boat. Needless to say, it got away. I was the last one off the 701 ramp and didn't want to leave. I'm sure the fully moon helped. Fished all plastics weedless. I'm wacky for weedless. Talked to another guy getting out and he said he got a 19 and 23 and threw them back. I'm absolutely hooked on Briery. I'll attach the pics of the larger ones.
  9. I agree. Probably 2.5-3. Unless you're 6'9. The pig in my picture is 23 1/2" and 5 pd 10 oz. You'll know a 5 pounder when you catch your first because you'll think it's 8+.
  10. New to the area as well. Just bought a Tracker 12. Caught a decent one out at Briery and looking forward to going back.
  11. I was there for about 5 days with a friend and we caught 40-50. Most of them small but did manage a 19" 3 pd 9 oz. Caught a lot in the smaller range. Most of our fishing was done with weedless rigs. Water was very warm and the good ones were deep. Here's a pic.
