  1. They sawed thru the $150 Loc-R-Bars that are supposed to keep the lockers from being opened if the locker locks themselves are damaged.
  2. Not quite. I've heard about hotel rooms getting raided for fishing gear, too. An inside job obviously.
  3. Well I see you're a river smallie angler. Maybe the Smallmouth Forum would provide for more useful discussion. I'd say your best bets would be fishing parallel to the rip rap with small buzzbaits and spinnerbaits, flukes and light-wire tube jigs. I like these around rocks: http://www.cabelas.com/roundhead-specialty-cabelas-fisherman-series-tender-tube-jigheads-standard.shtml?type=product&WT.tsrc=CSE&WT.mc_id=GoogleBaseUSA&WT.z_mc_id1=738899&rid=40&mr:trackingCode=010B88CC-958E-DF11-A0C8-002219318F67&mr:referralID=NA
  4. On another forum they claim that the thieves even stole the batteries from the boats.
  5. That's pitiful. It's a shame some of this stuff will be sold on Ebay or other online flea markets to people who think it's on the up-and-up, who unknowingly facilitate the very crimes they worry might happen to them.
  6. This is the basis of all lure selection, in my opinion. It's is what I have in mind when I choose a lure from my tacklebox or rig up my rods at the beginning of a fishing trip. I don't try new lures and techniqes very often, but often than not, trying something completely new is simply out of curiosity and the desire to catch a fish on something different. These are good posts, folks. I really enjoy this thread. Thanks.
  7. I'm thinking that a hand tied wire leader like those that fly anglers use for pike and muskie flies wouldn't be so bad. They're a lot more limp and less visible than any of the commercially made ones since they're not plastic coated, they use thinner gauge wire, and don't have the crimps, swivel, and snap. I might have to try because I really like using smaller hard swimbaits like the Sebile, but I lose too many. Something like 30# CXX may do the trick too, and that would be easier than using wire.
  8. What's the difference in cost?
  9. That's a good deal. IIRC, you were selling them here, weren't you?
  10. 10# Yo Zuri Ultra Soft or 8-10# P-Line CXX. All but the stretchiest mono will work fine too, especially if you're using a fast action rod because that little bit of stretch will compensate for the fast taper of the rod. But if you're using a moderate action rod with stretchy mono, you'll have a hard time getting a solid hookset before the bass can spit the lure, or so it seems. That's why I like mod action rods with low stretch copoly line, it's the best of both worlds because you have the sensitivity and abrasion resistance of copoly and the advantage of being able to launch lures a mile and keep fish hooked that a crankin' stick will give you.
  11. That's a great deal! I fish them as slow as I can on spinnerbait tackle with Yo Zuri 12# spooled up.
  12. I've heard that liquid PVC glue is very similar to Mend It as they are both solvent cements for plastics, but PVC glue cans are messy and the glue will dry or gum up like any other glue. Also, the cans often leak unless you tighten the lids with a vice grip unless you're able to store them upright. I'll leave mine on the workbench, because I'd end up spilling it all over my hands and boat if I brought it along. Besides, I prefer Pro's Soft Bait Glue over Mend It anyday, but even better yet, a battery powered solder iron. Radio Shack has one for $15-20. I bought one to keep my frogs afloat because they get shredded easily by pike. Here it is on sale. http://www.amazon.com/Weller-BP645MP-Battery-Soldering-Batteries/dp/B000EM98KW
  13. Pink/white, chart/white, and pearl white for me.
  14. These little Wolfram tungsten jigs are the best. It seems like for panfish, the smaller the better when it comes to jigs tipped with livebait. They're expensive but I almost never lose one so it's worth it. There was a recent In-Fisherman article that wrote about them. http://www.yourbobbersdown.com/alljigs.html Here are some nice alternatives that aren't as pricey. http://www.yourbobbersdown.com/littleatomjigs.html
  15. I bought my grandparents house after they passed, so my neighbor's have known me since I was a little kid making bike jumps in the alley. It's nice because they look out for my bassboat when I'm not home. I have to park it outside under tarps.
  16. After all the hype that the AFC has been getting about being the best conference by far, I hope the Packers win it all. After the Vikes move to Los Angeles, they'll be the "home team." : ;D
  17. Vick had money and so did Plaxico and they went to prison. Stallworth and LT got hand-slaps and they're rich too.
  18. This is true. I wonder if the hooker had a lawyer present when she made the statement that she lied to LT about her age, because that's what handcuffed the prosecution's case.
  19. Looks like the Footie laughs last and laughs loudest this time.
  20. Let me guess.....Oakland Raiders fan perhaps? Are you freakin kidding me?i hate the raiders!im a denver and chargers fan lol Denver and San Diego? You cheer for divisional rivals? I'm pretty sure that disqualifies you from posting in any thread relating to football. He's exempt from disqualification, it's Al Davis' Raiders were talking about, the most dysfunctional professional sports organization in N. America.
  21. If you're a smart shopper you can get LCs for $8. Where?! $8 is a bit of a stretch, but $10-11 isn't. There are various online flea markets with people selling new and gently used LCs for $10, usually in lots of 4-5 new baits for $40-50 shipped. The Bass Resource flea market even has em once in a while, but they go fast. You can find some great values in these flea markets or in your local retailer's bargain bins. Most people seem to pass them up though, thinking they're filled with junk.
  22. That's a good story. I'm not surprised. Cabelas is a class-act business. They have some of the nicest, most knowledgeable, most helpful sales reps I've ever dealt in any sporting goods store. They seem to steer people towards what is best for them rather than the latest hot seller. However, I do wish they would still accept the Shimano Crucial over-the-counter warranty. A lot of people around here use them. I have a broken one right now that I don't know what to do with, my favorite buzzbait rod, a X610MH. I'd even be willing to pay a penalty because the break was my fault.
