Need help with trolling motor and battery.
I recently got a jon boat and a trolling motor. I have switched the trolling motor over to bow mount. I want to keep the battery in the back of the boat for weight purposes. What kind of wiring, connectors, etc. do I need to do this? I am a dummy when it comes to these type of things, so I would appreciate any help. If anybody could walk me through this step by step and also where to buy the materials would be great.

question on hook sets
when fishing a spinner bait how hard of a hook set do you use? i have always used a sweeping motion like with a crankbait instead of using a worm fishing set. the reason i ask is because yesterday i hooked the largest bass i have had this year, but lost him about 6'' before i could lip him. i wonder if i should start setting the hook a little harder. the fish was at least 7 lbs and i am still sick on the stomach.

What do you need to work on the most?
I must learn to focus more on what I am doing. In particular worm and plastic fishing. Sometimes i am not watching the line or am just not ready to set the hook and I miss a fish. Sometimes I don't try to set the hook until after I feel the 2nd tap, by then the fish has usually spit the lure out. I seem to focus so much better when using cranks or spinnerbaits.

need advice for tomorrow's fishing trip
Thanks for all the tips. I had a great day. Fished for about 4 hours, caught 7 bass. One was over 5lbs, 1-4lbs,1-3lbs, and a couple1.5 lbs. Your call on the spinnerbaits and cranks was right on. I caught 3 on each. The 5lb was caught on a white trick worm. Most of the fish were caught in 4-6 foot depths. Again, thanks for the pointers.

need advice for tomorrow's fishing trip
Thanks for the info. Got the spinnerbaits rigged and ready to roll. Also got the cranks ready. Just hope the wind isn't too bad. I will be by my self in a 10' jon boat w/out trolling motor. Will be paddling my rear off if the wind is bad.

need advice for tomorrow's fishing trip
I am going fishing tomorrow at a small 3 acre pond in southeast virginia. My question is how will the change in weather from hurricane ophelia affect the fishing. The pond is anywhere from 3-20 feet in depth, has lots of fallen trees and stumps, has some vegetation, and has plenty of bass. The forecast is for 30% chance rain, cloudy, and definately windy. Any suggestions?

new to board...question
I love reading this board but this is my first post. I have always used a spinning reel but recently bought my first baitcaster. I have had it about a month and love it. I have not had any trouble learning how to use it except for one thing. I am having trouble casting my crig. I have a 7' mh rod. My leader was about 18". I was using a 3/8brass slip weight with a baby brush hog for lure. I couldn't get any distance or accuracy. Was my weight too small? I have no trouble using this same setup t-rigged. Thanks for any help.
