Try rigging them on a Slider head.

They also work well in dirty water and in fast current since they make a good bit of noise. Try a quick direction change with your rod to induce strikes.

I will second (or third) the St Croix Triumph. Or you can get a left over from last year Premier for around the same price (around $65-75) I would pair that with the an Okuma Stratus reel from Dick's for around $30-35 on sale or with coupon.
