If you are new to bass fishing most sporting goods stores and wal mart offer great combos to get you started. Make sure fishing is going to be your only hobby before you start throwing money at it.

Throw the spiderwire away gets my vote. Try it on a spinning reel, then see if you have the patience to try it on a bait caster.

I guess the smallie crowd likes this stuff, but it has no place for anything other than brownies, and catfish.

The casting rods are awesome acording to this board so I would expect nothing less for the spinning category.
