  1. I know your going to stick a seven plus man.....just make sure that go pro is rolling!
  2. So they say that bait should work even better as your water temps cool?? Only one way to find out bro!
  3. If you're in an area that you are confident holds fish, slow your technique such as jigs or t-rig. More times than not your not going to stumble upon a bunch of fish actively feeding. However, if you're fishing slow, chances are better a lazy bass will pick up your bait to eat it.
  4. Tom I'd love to hear how you caught your 19.3! Didn't it come n a jig. It would be very interesting to know how you got her from cast to working the jig and feeling the bite to the boat. Very few people could tell a story about a bass that large being caught!
  5. Etommy is right. They've closed down a crap ton of spots. Ft myers sucks if you bank fish. Lehigh and cape coral have more access. Ten mile canal is about the only area left that's worthwhile. Lakes park is always another nice option and if I were you I would go back there.
  6. Its fine. I've caught em using five inch paca craws as trailers with that jig.
  7. Shane J, that combo is SICK!!!!!!
  8. Personally I really like these alot! I won't be buying many because the price is too much. If I'm flipping or punching I don't care about realism, it's the reaction bite I'm after. If I'm slow crawling the bottom where a bass has all the time in the world to look at it I would use these. If I were on a spot that were holding a teen size bass I'd prefer a realistic craw over a plastic chunk. Huddleston didn't create his huddlebug with the idea of just catching 2 pounders in mind.
  9. Lou you've done a great job with these threads. I figure lets get some more participation from the FL Boys. Im in!
  10. Aaaah, figures, I was going to get a few once I knew what they were! Oh well....
  11. Aj who makes that beaver style bait? It looks interesting.
  12. gar-tracker everyone of your post either made me chuckle or smile..Good luck in the tourney man!
  13. Ha! Love your facial expression!
  14. Sad to hear man....I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often the way people go rippin through those trails. Glad he was ok.
  15. I used to night fish all the time. I used to tighten the cast control knob just a bit more than if I were fishing in the day. After the I make a cast I'll slowly lift my rod tip up slowly while thumbing the spool to let a couple more feet of line out before engaging the spool. This will pull out any loops or small overrun that may have happened during the cast as leaving these can cause you problems on the next cast. As far as baits, as some have suggested, any color works, just work them a bit slower. like the jitterbug, a Deps buzzjet is really hard to beat if the topwater bite is on.. Good luck!
  16. Hey guys, the first cold snap of the year should be coming soon (late Oct.nov) if there is such a thing in s. florida. When this happens drag a horny toad or whatever on the bottom super slow just outside the first weedline. I used to only night fish and what I noticed that when the temps dip, by accident I flashed my flashlight into the shoreline and saw glowing eyes everywhere! In my opinion the frogs took refuge to the water to stay warm during the cool night. Air temps that night were upper 50's. Needless to say I caught about 25 bass in two-3 hours I was there and left them biting. Just another option if you're out. Good luck guys!
  17. John, you were right. He caught it on a six inch castaic after he located it on a spawning flat. Post spawn, maybe? The article didn't really specify unless I overlooked.it. He hooked it first on a jig and lost it and went back and nailed her on the swimbait. Here's the article from the man himself. AWESOME read! http://www.mikelongoutdoors.com/what-is-it-like-to-catch-a-20lb-bass/
  18. Yeah I know. I watched your vid with Balzz where you two were flippin. Thought I heard you mention topwater frog a few times! Ha
  19. I ll post it up if I can. I do know long caught dottie twice but the first catch of her she was 18 pounds. Now I can't remember how she was caught when she weighed over 20.
  20. John you may be right....I'd have to back and read the article. It may have been the bass under the dock that he hooked and went back to a couple hours later and caught her. For some reason I thought he said she was near a bed. You may be right though.
  21. And all legit catches as well. Nobody could catch dottie except off a bed. She was to elusive. I beleive kurita said in an interview he has seen schools of twenty pound bass swimming in biwa as to why his world record catch came to him as no surprise. He was hoping it was one of the much larger bass he has seen in biwa.
  22. If the size water depends on If your fish is legit than I guess one could exclude "dottie" as a legit catch. She came from dixon, a sixty acre lake which many could consider a pond especially if Compared to lake O.
  23. Forget the 10.0, look for the teener!
  24. A 6.6 pound bass is a 6.6 pound bass regardless of where you caught it and a nice one as well. Some people get so arrogant when it comes to fishing, I highly doubt that guy is making a living fishing for bass.
  25. These seem really good, I look forward to the review man. I hope it includes tons of fish caught on it!
