  1. Nice one snook! I wish I could fish right behind my house!
  2. Thos seiberts look awesome for sure. Great hook! Take a look at the gary klein heavy cover jig. Those are nasty!
  3. Butch brown has frequented the boards here in the past.
  4. The term monster is subjective. Six or seven pound bass ill just keep winching them in. 15 pound bass I don't know I have to hook one first!
  5. Owner st-41 2x strong. These bite and dont let go.
  6. My favorite for now is the lil john dd. I like that it vibrates harder than a lot of other cranks I threw. I havnt gotten it down to more than around sixteen feet. Ill throw it down to sixteen fow, down the slopes of steep banks and even in shallower water just pausing it after every bump and done well. If it is windy ill always throw a shallow crank to cover the first drop/ledge. If not much goin there ill swith to the deep diver and bring it down the whole ledge and down the next if theres a second drop.
  7. I met him once at a ramp in the glades and seemed like a very nice guy! My condolences to his family and friends.
  8. Before you go showing off your baits to big companies I'd get a patent or you just might see your baits made without your name or profit! Good luck man!
  9. Try fishing closer to cover with a slower approach and possible downsizing of bait. Go with the lightest weight possible as well. Make several casts to the same area if needed. I fished a bulky jig for two hours this morning and caught one fish. Downsized to just a small plastic with a 1/8 ounce bullet weight and caught 6 more within 90 minutes. No big ones, all two and three pounders but I was getting bit once I downsized. As FishinDaddy mentioned the front, that is why I downsized my bait and work an area maybe a bit more than I would for sure if they were more active.
  10. Great colors on that fish!!
  11. I'm not sure as the one I'm referring to I thought was a more easterly path.
  12. If I'm not mistaken I believe what you mention is seven mile ditch. I ran through there a month aga and water level was six foot in the middle. Id stay close to the middle as I believe. I saw some boulders on the sides a couple times. I would think it should be ok to go through to the box. Take a left off the ramp and it should be the small canal on your right just past the locks near the campground opposite side of the canal.
  13. You're absolutely right, thousands of 1 pounders will still eat this bait.
  14. Contact captain shane here on the forums. He will get you squared away. He has vids of him just whackin em all day long!
  15. That smaller eye on the shank is the bait keeper and it works great for me. Palomar would work but a snell may be better depending on how your using it. Those are nice because they are strong and the welded eye keeps superlines from snapping.
  16. I rarely catch jig fish on the initial drop, now with that said, when I am hopping it on the bottom, more times than not, they hit when it is dropping from the height of each single hop.
  17. Gen 2 Abu Garcia Revo STX. With the discounts now, it's less than $159. I have owned 6 of these at one time. The good, strong drag and casts a mile. The bad is high maintenance, I had to clean mine every third or fourth time out and it's a tad heavier than some of the others listed.
  18. Bass patrol football head jigs, 2x strong hook but it is a small hook. Hand tied skirts and for $1.99 you really cant find a better jig for the price.
  19. A few years ago I was cross shopping the revolution shad with the spro shad and went with the revolution shad. Honestly, I caught fish with them and some nice ones at that. The bad, the joints break so if the "rattlin" revolution shads are like the old ones I'd be weary.
  20. <---------------- about 5-6 pounds!
  21. Nice bass Dcorp! I still have my Curado 300E. I may keep that around for a bit, if you're right about the line capacity then I'll need it. I'm selling most of my swimbaits over 6 inches, even a bunch of my 68's so I have dropped my line to #50 strength which I get plenty of on the winch.
  22. My advice for newcomers to fishing would be to start in a pond or canal. The main rule is to find fish. Well everyone says pond fishing is easy, mainly because in ponds, most times the fish are accessible or "findable". The great thing about this is that days crankbaits aren't working, time to tie on a jig or plastic or topwater, you get the point right? The main thing is, you know the fish are there and if one technique isn't working, it will force you to try and learn new ones or work hard for hours to get that one bite! Like others have said, just keep it simple, usually color selection can be limited to darker and lighter colors and I would leave it at that to start with for all your baits hard or soft. Fish where you can reach the fish for now and learn what you can with each technique and then apply that anywhere you go, but first find the fish!! Good luck!
  23. Thanks for the input guys. I have been using my Gen 3 Revo Winches and liked it so much I have another on the way. I have not used it for 8 inch hudds yet as I can't put down the cranks at the moment. It is unbelievable they can pack that much line on a reel this small. It is tiny. I prefer this to my Curado 200E that I just sold. I really don't know how they can improve this reel. I've owned Plutons, Daiwa Zillion Type R that I sold to SouthFla, and this reel for the price is hands down the best I've used so far. If you're on the fence about this one I'd suggest just get it, especially if you like the last gen Revo's. Now if this reel falls apart over the year I apologize for anyone taking my advice!! I don't see that happening though if they're anything like the last models.
  24. "Small" is subjective. Dottie was caught from Dixon, small imo, Butch fishes the lagoon which is "small"?? No 23 pound bass will ever come from a 2 acre pond.
  25. Wow, with that kind of loot I'd invest in a nice rod/reel combo. I've been using the Gen 3 revo's now the last few times out and love them! There on sale too at certain e-tailers. A nice rod to go with it and you're covered. The small purchases like cranks, jigs, etc you can get anytime!
