  1. 10+ LMB 5+ SMB 1.5+ Bluegill 2+ Red Ear 20+ Striper
  2. The lakes I fish are no water contact lakes so I'm always on the bank. I tend to bring two or three rods: 1 6'6" ML XF spinning (senko, dropshot) 1 7" M M glass baitcaster (cranks, jerk, topwater) 1 7" MH/H F baitcaster (jigs, punching) My backpack probably weighs about 20+ lbs with all the tackle, food, water (and sometimes extra clothes) I bring. Depending on the time of year I could probably eliminate 5-10lbs without missing much, but I always want to be ready for anything. For rod storage I've sewn a sew-on velcro strap from the craft store onto the side of my pack very close to the top, and with the butts of the rods sitting in a side pouch on the same side of the pack, they stay very secure when I'm hiking/biking.
  3. Although it's a spray you're better off spraying into the package of soft baits rather than once it's on the line. I think it only lasts a few casts max.
  4. Compared to the action of other soft plastics of a similar shape, can you honestly say the Rage Tail baits catch more fish?
  5. I currently throw my lipless cranks on 15lb flourocarbon , however I'm thinking I prefer 10lb for casting distance. I've never had a problem with ripping them out of weeds, in fact I often like to dip them into the weeds and rip them out to elicit strikes. I've only ever snagged them on wood, however I don't have heavy weeds in my lakes.
  6. Frog - have to have a top water and it has to be weedless, in this case River2Sea Jig w/trailer - because I can fish it on the bottom, swim it, punch it, etc Crankbait - Either an XCalibur XR 75 or a Yozuri Rattlin' Vibe (both lipless so I can target the entire water column) Senko - 5" Green Pumpkin/Watermelon Drop Shot - because it is so darn effective in clear water
  7. San Francisco, CA Forage : Crayfish, panfish, trout I wish we had shad anywhere closer than Berryesa or Clear Lake. My Staysee 90 is useless around here.
  8. Finding the fish. Once you know where they are, you probably have a good idea of how to target them.
  9. Is this the part where I shouldn't complain because it's 55 degrees out?
  10. You could always move . Caught eight Sunday on a hike in only lake here in California.
  11. I wouldn't suggest northern (SF Bay Delta area) California in the winter, too many sudden changes in weather. For instance, last week on Sunday we had a sudden onset of severely cold weather and rain. To illustrate the change, it went from 65 mid-day Saturday to 35 in some places by Monday mid-day. As you can imagine the bite was turned OFF. The Sacramento delta didn't seem to suffer as bad, but definitely felt the effects. If I had my choice, I'd go to one of the states along the gulf for largemouth or spots. Or maybe to Mexico!
  12. I wish I could study under Bob Lusk for a while, that guy has forgotten more about bass than I'll ever know. Some of the info in that video is pure gold.
