  1. Florida guys, if you can deal with the morbid heat, Orange Lake is your best chance for double-digit pigs RIGHT NOW! Fished it yesterday with a friend during a tourney that we weren't a part of. We were on the water from 6:30 to about 1 or so, and saw a 13, a 10, and I myself almost caught a hefty mama that threw my spinnerbait at me mere inches from my outstretched hand boatside :-[. Aside from hawgs, good numbers of quality fish all around. Good topwater bite until about 10 AM. All of my good fish came on topwater and spinnerbait. Be prepared to sift through a lot of pickerel! They're as thick as the hydrilla.
  2. Sounds about right with the ski boats, Tommy. I'm never on that lake after about noon or 1 PM. Where and how did you fish?
  3. Ick! That is the worst time ever for a tourney on that lake. It's gonna be completely overrun by ski boats. I'll probably be there tomorrow morning so I'll see what I can find for you.
  4. Really? Granted, I'm off the water at around noon or 1 PM when the speed and ski boat retards take over, but I usually catch at least a half-dozen at an average of around 2.5 lbs.
  5. Caught mine in Santa Fe. Got a lot of big pickerel in it.
  6. I had thought about doing that but now I'm gonna go ahead and do it.
  7. So, I caught a giant Chain Pickerel on Monday on a Strike King Sexy Swimmer. For a moment I thought it was a Pike, before I realized that that was a stupid thought. Weighed it with my lipper gripper and it came in just over 6 lbs. I thought, "Wow, that's a big pickerel. Wonder what the record is?" But I released it. I should've left it at that, but instead I looked it up when I got home. :-[ Turns out, the Florida state record is 5 lbs. 12 oz. Oops.
  8. When I was stationed in Key West, my buddy Wes had a dock right on the water in a little horseshoe-shaped cove with an island in the center. For 2 years or so, fishing at night out there, every time I would hook up with something that destroyed a lot of my gear. We're talking broken rods, stripped drag discs on spooled-out reels, that kinda stuff. Finally, I decided to get serious and put a 9/0 Penn Senator on a 120 pound-class trolling rod and go at it using keeper-size gray snapper as bait. My last night fishing there, about 1:30 AM, I hooked up. The truck that took the bait ran for a while, then proceeded to separate itself from the 200-pound braid restraining it. 20 minutes later or so, close enough to the dock to see in my lantern light, swam 9-10 feet of shark, most likely Bull Shark, being that it hung out 20-25 yards from the dock. Talk about being shook up!!
  9. I did, though, recently pick up the 18 karat tennessee shad which is pretty similar, only with a black back instead of blue.
  10. Gold Sexy Shad for one, won't be available for at least a month, probably closer to 2-3 months. Is bought maybe last gold sexy shad in NE Florida. Is catch many bass now!! Say what? :-? Gold Sexy Shad is a new pattern that SK released/announced on the Monday after the Classic. figured that would get a rise outta someone

  12. I would probably then want to know what store.
