  1. Just shove her on through and cut the hook.... hooks are cheap, and I do the same when I hook myself .try fishing with 3 kids whipping lines on a boat, you'll get plenty of practice, and it doesn't hurt so bad once you get used to it. ;D ;D ;D ;D
  2. seeing as you're from Indiana and the lakes are frozen...... spend it on gas money and go to Alabama to go fishing!!!!!!!!!!
  3. The last time I fished with my old man..... on christmas day 2 weeks ago. He just told me a few days ago....... he has cancer.
  4. I gill hooked my first whopper..... I was so excited about catching the fish! Anyhow, I knew I had to cut the hook to remove it and in my excitement, cut the hook, held the fish in my hand and tossed my rod and reel into the abyss of the lake! At least I kept the fish!
  5. Although I don't live in Florida anymore (Joined the Army 15 years ago) I did grow up in Davie and fished markham park and all the canals along 84 and even into alligator alley. As I recall, you are using the right bait, T-rig and all.... and sounds to me you are doing all the right stuff. The problem I always had was weather. I distinctly recall overcast being the best time to bass fish, for some reason they always were biting. The FL largemouth seems to always be 10-20 ft off the shoreline and did not require substantial cover. That being said, I think you are just falling prey to low lake stock and bad luck. Keep your bait in the water and you'll figure out your own technique. My family just vacationed down there last week (Stuart, FL.....) and my boys were killing the largemouth up in coral springs, destroying was more like it. As a matter of fact, my profile picture was from my vacation last week. Good luck, let us know how it works out!
  6. Rapala pro bass fishing on my kids' Wii
  7. Echo...... Texas rig, Berkley gulp worm, purple curl tail, with bullet sinker and offset bass hook.
  8. BEETLE SPIN!!!!!!! I never caught a thing on it. That turned into another few lures...... now I have a $250.00 tackle box. It's amazing how many of those things you will buy to try to catch a darned fish.
  9. No kidding........ Fishing for dummies book! I grew up in South Florida, surf and pier fishing, never really hung around the lakes much. Caught a few bass when I was a kid by accident. I moved to Kentucky while in the Army..... no Ocean there so I picked up an old hobby..... fishing, but bass this time. I bought that book and have studied the internet regularly. Since, I have bought a small boat and have even competed in a local tournament (placed like 125th place). Just recently, I took my family to Florida on vacation over Christmas and my Father has a small lake behind his house and we beat the bass to death in that lake, now my old man is hooked on bass fishing, so I suppose I taught him my technique.
  10. I get the extension cable off the spool from home depot.
  11. It may sound jakey, but I actually use green outdoor extension cord (heavy duty) 6ga. It is very good for outdoor use, looks good and it is 3 wire so you always have a spare in the jacket...... plus, it is exponentially cheaper than any wire I have used.
  12. Hell yeah..... I tow my 16' lowe with decking and an outboard with a 4x4 Geo Tracker! Not a problem, of course it's a little slow on the hills, but otherwise, no problems.
  13. Ok..... Thanks, That is one good opinion. I have looked it up on google with some bad results.... But this is a sort of a peer group for me so I trust you guys. Your opinion sounded like a salesman..... You don't own the company do you.....? LOL
  14. I knocked a small hole in my jon boat the other day..... I have patched it with marine sealant, it is a good watertight seal but, I want to make it permanent. My question is...... has anyone used those "alumiweld" sticks and torch? Besides professional welding, what can the aerage Joe do to make a good permanent metal repair? Thanks in advance!
