When are you going to be back on the water Cat?

1215 is hit and miss with the water color. There was some pocket with 3' of vis sunday. That is the great thing about the bend it can clear very quickly!

What part of the lake are you planning on fishing?

I fished the Bend this week too. Started Prefishing Tuesday in San Migel and Marked quite a Few Staging Fish, but could not get a bite. Wed. - Spent all day in San Migel and caught 3. 1 in 8foot of water over grass on the edge of a good flat on a Spinnerbait and 1 on a Dock in 10 foot of water on a brush hog and then ended the day around the islands by the state park and picked another flipping fish up out of buckbrush in 4 foot of water. Thurs. - Started in Lowes and hit a Flat and a point that has always produced some weighfish for me. after 4 hours throwing traps spinnerbaits and texas rigs I hooked up with a GOOD fish in 6 foot of water on the point but lost her half way to the boat. moved across to negreet and fished all the points between the 2 salters and zeroed. then moved in and checked the pipeline in both and had on bite that took the tail off my lizzard, probably a spot. Friday- Worked the bluelake area and picked up a few nice fish in 5-8 foot of water on traps and Spinnerbaits . Sat morning- Startted our tourney in Bluelake and our drain that was producing friday was Dead. No fish after 3 hours so moved to our secondary spot, another drain. and just got lucky enough to see a 3 lber chase some bait up beside the boat. the shad they were keying on was very small. So tied on a 2.5 in mattshad swimbait and ripped it through the grass in the bottom of the drain. Started hooking up with some good fish but had a hard time keping them hooked up on the small hook. :'( Wound up with a small limit. Sunday went back to the same drain and caught an under on the third cast and never had another bite. Toughest Fishing I have ever had on the Bend. But it is ready to Explode!! Just need a few day of good weather and it is going to be ON!!

This Year you are definately not going to be too late. If you see any fish on beds it is probably going to be males with the water temps still being cool. BUT the Females should be in Shallower water as the week goes on and gets closer to the full moon.

We will be there tues, Just in time for the weather to cool off. :'(

Looking at the 15day forecast the temps should start a steady climb and with the Full moon coming next week I bet the bass are going to start making a move.

How much water are they leting Through right now?

Tose 2 bottom fish are some chunky little Spots! I will be there next tues through Sun. Sure would like to meet up and have a Cup of Coffee Catt!

Now that the water temps aren't exactly cooperating. Let's talk about what you think the fish will do on the upcoming full moon. Looking at the 15 day forcast it is going to coincide with pre front conditions. I think this is going to move a bunch of fish up in the drains. What has been your experiance Catt?

I think I have a spare. I am holding one for Catt, but let me see if I can put my hands on another and will let you know. FYI, the reason you can't find them is because they are not available. These are maps I got from a rep that are done by another mapping site. mapcard.com Ok, tht makes sense. i thought I was loosing my mind. It shows on the select map page that they are available but when you try to purchase it , It does not show up. :-/ I may call customer service and ask them what is up with that. I wonder if it is going to ba a future release? These HD maps are nice!! there are spots on my home lake that never showed on any of the published lake maps that stick out like a sore thumb an the HD maps. There goes all those hours I spent idling around to find them out the window. :

Fishfordollars, I saw earlier in this thread that you purchased the HD map for toledo. I have been trying to for weeks and when I pull up the buy HD maps page it doesn't list anything for Lousianna and No toledo listed for texas. What am I missing? :-/ I know it is there because it shows the HD version available when I have the maps tab open.

Yeah I Like Toms articles. I was talking specifically about 1215. With so much Structure in the area. How do you narrow down the search before you get on the water? I could never really define the 1215 area in 4 days of prefishing. I have been sticking to Negreet, Indian mounds, Lowes and Lananna as far as structure because our tourney is always out of North toledo bend state park. But I think I might need to go north this year since our tourney is a month earlier than normal.

Oh cool... I thought the 1215 area was only where the road crosses. So the 1215 area covers a vast area? Where does it start? There are 3 ways to view the location of certain areas of the lake; Physical, Historical, and Rumored The 1215 area on Toledo Bend is where I cut my bass-fishing "eye teeth". When people speak of "1215", this covers a vast expanse of water from the mouth of San Miguel Creek to where the old 1215 Hwy. comes into the water, better known as Blue Lake Landing. Here you'll find flooded brush in up to 10 feet of water, laydowns by the thousands, several types of grass, drains and ditches running every which way through acres of flats, old roadbeds, humps surrounded by deep water the list is never-ending. Catt, this is where it gets TUFF for me. When There is only limited Good structure in an area I can usually Isolate it very easily, BUT when you are looking at an area like 1215 with 100's of possibuilities, how do you narrow down your search personally? Do you just Go to the highest percentage areas that you can see on the map? :-/

Don't feel bad, It happens to all of us!! I wish I had a Quarter for every fish I have missed because I forgot to tighten the drag when got the rods out of the locker. ;D

Did You and your dad Go all the way across San Migel or did you stop and fish the point that stickout about 200yds from the ramp? That little point is a Good one and also the Island to your right as you are leaving the ramp. It has a nice 12 fotto flat with quite a few drains running through it.

Fishfordollars, We are working off of Acme.mapper.com. It shows to be wgs84 Degrees minutes and seconds. I am on the road now but when I get home I will check the coordinates against lowrance Hotmaps veiwer.

Catt, Just to the Southwest of these coordinates is a Hump With a 150 line and a Creek coming out of the main lake running on the south side of it. Would this be the first stop for fish as they move up in the spring? OR do you think they would bypass it in favor of the larger structure closer to shore?

I hate loons, They make a mess when you hit one in the dark. ;D
