  1. 4 to 6 when in the boat. On shore, I'll have from 3 to 6 in the car, and of those will have 2 with me (one in my hand, one in my belt behind my back) while working the bank.
  2. My "shallow" bite stopped at 49 degree surface water temp. However, EastTexasBassin just posted a great story about getting a topwater (!) bite in cold water. Check out: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1295615000
  3. Sea Eagles have a great rep...and sure are handy for storage and transportation...
  4. Just get the TM battery as far forward as you can to better balance the boat. Also, I actually motor my canoe backwards - since I use it solo, I use what used to the the front seat, and sit backwards facing "aft" with the battery in what normally is the stern. This gets your weight more towards the center of the boat, with the TM behind you, and the TM battery ahead of you. Trims out better that way.
  5. Free shipping over $35....
  6. Semper Fi mac ! Goose / Wayne J. - SSgt, USMC (1970-1981)
  7. You're always the "tackle cheerleader" - where's tnbassfisher - he's the one that wanted to see all this stuff! ;D ;D ;D
  8. Thanks. Does that wallet have the same retention system as the 3600/3700 form factor boxes? Thanks guys, but I'm interested in 3600 and 3700 form factor boxes.
  9. My WalMart hasn't clearanced any fishing stuff in over a year... :-/ BUT, these baits are also on special at Lurenet.com for $1.50/2pk. I just ordered 5 packs (and a bunch of other stuff) a couple days ago. I hope they fish well... : http://www.lurenet.com - go to Internet Specials and look for the YUM listing.
  10. Anyone had any experience with these spinnerbait boxes yet? You can get them in 3700 and 3600 form factors, instead of the older-style "cube" type boxes. The only down-side that I see is that the baits are stored with the metal arm & blades bent down and secured in that lowered position. Just wondering if there will be any long-term effect on the arms. I'm thinking probably not with a quality spinnerbait but I probably shouldn't put my WalMart SBs in there... ;D
  11. One of the lakes I fish is 16 acres. One guy that lives on that lake built something like JFs photo above. He took what looked like two styrofoam blocks from an old floating dock, put a piece of 4'x8' plywood on top. Added some 2x4s around the edge to keep gear from falling off. Trimmed it out a bit with rod holders, boat chair, TM, etc. It's really a mini-pontoon boat with 48 square feet of deck. I guess it's about equivalent to an 8ft bass raider. He takes it out on calm days without much wind. Wanna bet that he catches as many fish (if not more) as anyone else in that lake - including the guy with the 20' bass boat that lives across the lake from him. It's all about getting off the bank, safely, and getting your fish, right...
  12. Looks good. Cost effective, gets you off the bank, and if you're good, you might catch as many fish as the guy in the 20k bass boat that is going around the lake beating the bank. I would add some rod holders to this boat though and maybe root through the trash and come up with some more planks to add more decking. It's a good start and could be improved quite a bit depending on how good of dumster pickins' you can find.
  13. There's been a thread on this in the Tackle forum and in the Boating forum. I guess no one thought to get it started here until now. I hope everyone that was interested got tipped off in the other forums! The Revo and rod deal was just amazing. As I said in one of the other threads, it's a good thing I don't have a Dick's near me otherwise I would have a BUNCH of new combos that I don't need... ;D
  14. Radisson 12' (actually 11'6") with a 38" beam. It doesn't paddle as well as something with a narrower beam (or a better beam to length ratio) but I don't paddle often and usually motor it (my biggest lake is nearly 2 miles long and I'd rather fish than paddle...).
  15. I use the same size Pflueger, a Supreme 8025MG (not the XT) on my "grub rod" with 20lb braid. Works great!
  16. I voted: I actually utilize them ... but not a lot. It's a bonus if the reel comes with the spare spool. I have a Pflueger Surpreme that I have the main spool filled with 20lb braid and another spool with mono. 45 years ago, I had a Mitchell 408 with 3 spools - 4, 6, and 8lb test. I sometimes take spare spools with me when I'm traveling and have a limited number of rigs with me. The rest of the time, I have plenty of rigs with me so if one spinning rod goes out-of-commission with a line issue, I just grab another rod (I even take 6 rods in my canoe).
  17. Well, my parting words on the kayak thread were basically that all small watercraft have strengths and weaknesses - all are compromises to some degree. Each angler may come up with a different solution to satisfy their own particular needs. The point is to get off the bank and get on the water and catch fish. It's all good... Having said the above, the solution that fit my particular needs at this time was a canoe. Modular, 34lbs for the basic canoe, it can be car-topped and all gear in the photo, plus 6 rods, fit in the trunk of my car. Works for me - I caught 425 fish out of it last season.
  18. Looks great! Are you going to run 4lb line or what? Also, what reel are you putting on this rod? On that 10.14 or bigger fish, if you hook-up in open water, you should be able to get her in!!
  19. I walked away from a good job and took early retirement with a reduced pension at age 56 - I don't regret it a bit! I didn't end up on or next to big water, but I do have 11 lakes (4 acres to 201 acres) all within a 5-10 minute drive of my front door. It's great You'll have a ball...................
  20. How are the Rapalas & traps holding up? Lot's of tooth marks... ;D The water is hard up there right now and looking at your clothes in the photo - you must be talking about an earlier trip... Have you fished from your new Wenonah yet?
  21. Interesting. Do you know yet how they fish? The name on the rod "God of Lurestick" is interesting - is that the result of literal translation of a Korean phrase to English? I'm always curious about why some of the tackle companies have more interesting product lines in some of the other national markets than here in the U.S. I'm sure there's a complex mix of business reasons to justify the different regional product lines but some of the stuff I see seems like it would sell in the U.S. Thanks for the pics. I appreciate the insight that you and Marauder Yak provide for products coming out of Korea.
  22. I call it "bank trolling". When fishing from shore, I'm usually on an earthen dam at one of my lakes. I'll usually work my way across the dam with one bait/technique and then use another bait to work back across the dam to the starting point. If I'm running short of time, I'll bank troll with something instead of just walking down the dam back to the car. Doesn't always work, but I sometimes get an extra fish or two by just walking down the dam.
  23. I'm still blown away by that Revo/All Star Combo. I guess it's good that I don't have a Dick's close by - I probably would have got a bunch of combos (that I don't need) at that price.
  24. Me too - lots of knots, leader material, and little pieces of hardware... ;D
