Spinnerbait trailers.
Sometimes. sometimes not. I generally will use a curly tail trailer when I use one, but somethimes a split trailer and even craw or lizards have produced for me. When using a lizard as a trailer, be sure to pinch it in half. You only use the last half (back legs and tail) when using as a spinnerbait trailer. I think it works simply because it gives the bass something different to see.

Got it! *cheering* See above post

Strange question
I too use the rope method. I also had a knot come loose once when launching. And the wind was NOT blowing to shore!! Fortunately, there was another boat close by. He saw what had happened, came in and retrieved my captainless vessel! LOL

Weed kills
No weed spraying that I know of in Iowa. The ding-dongs at the DNR think it is better to bring in grass carp! :

How to get better at what we do.
Sorry, I know this applies to ettiquette, but as far as I know, it has nothing to do with your ability as an angler. Not trying to be a smart arse, but seriously. I could litter up every lake that I fish and still be the best or worst fisherman around. My courtesy and ettiguette does not affect my skill as an angler.

Total Weight?
Thats a sweet boat dude! Single console is 1875 lbs. Dual is 1900. Then you have the weight of the motor, batteries, etc. which shoul bring it up to another 600-800 pounds, possibly more. It is not tough figuring out a tow vehicle though. Chevy Truck all the way baby! Z71 4x4 with 5.7 litre!! ;D

need advice for tomorrow's fishing trip
Chris is right here. If it is going to be windy, use a spinnerbait. They aren't only for spring you know! Anytime there is some chop on the water, especially in ponds, chances are good that you will do well throwing one. Good Luck!

wish me luck
TAke it as you must guys, Sams advice is true! It is just the way it is in these things, just like clubs at school or anyplace else. It takes time for them to "officially" let you in. I found out this also when I joined our club in it's innaugural 96' season. I showed up for the 4th or 5th meeting and still found myself to be an outsider. One sure way to speed things up though is to do well in the tourneys. Sam is right, don't brag about how good you are, show it. It is the best way to earn the respect of the other members. It does sound like this club is a little snobbish though. To have to "review" an application is pretty harsh. The way our club works, someone shows up to the advertised meetings, pays their dues and is voted onby the members right there. I don't think I have ever seen a "nay" vote on a new member. Another cool thing that our club did, but has since changed against my wishes is this. Used to be, you could not fish with the same partner more than twice in a 12 tournament season. This way, everyone gets to know one another. You would think it would cause problems with boaters vs. non-boaters, whose boat to take, boaters fishing with boaters or 2 non-boaters being stuck together. But honestly, it all worked out for 6 years with only a few bumps. (non-boaters having to borrow boats, etc.) Now the club lets anyone fish with whoever with no restrictions so it causes more division IMHO. However, it has created some great rivalries, Like HArry and Crusty in Bassmaster. (For those who don't know about Harry and Charlie, please go read Bassmaster. The most entertaining part of the mag IMO. So, my advice. If you are cocky, be so quietly. Your skill will show at the weigh in.

BIGGEST BASS YOU'VE EVER CAUGHT
7lbs. 7oz. from a farm pond in Arkansas. Many 5's and 6's and a couple that I estimated at 7 but couldn't weigh. Actually had what myself and my partner estimated to be 9-10 lbs. on. I had this fish beat too. But we were fishing from shore with a thick weedline and instead of wading in to lip the fish past the weed line, I tried to horse it up over the weeds. Guess what happened! :'( Ruined the rest of my day!

Let's see your boats!!!
Cujo13, here is what you do. Go to www.tinypic.com. Upload the pic from your drive and hit the host picture button. In a few seconds, you will have a scaled down version. It is not super small, but it will fit the screen. Copy the new link of your picture and modify your post. Insert the new pics link in place of your old one and viola!

wondering how it works?
Nope. You are refering to a multi bank charger, which is different from an onboard which chargers batteries while you fish. When the big motor is running, the onboard charges your deep cycle batteries.

Draggin' spinnerbaits
Good point! A heavier spinnerbait works best for this technique, especially in deeper water.

By the way, the trolling motor in the pics has since been replaced with a Motorguide brute 70lb. thrust model with gator mount! Specs on the boat: 18 1/2 ft. 150hp Suzuki Oil and Fuel injected motor, dual live wells, in dash fishfinder with other goodies, up front Eagle fishfinder and lowrance flasher, 2 rod lockers, power tilt and trim, hydraulic steering, baitwell, huge ice chest and tons of storage!

Draggin' spinnerbaits
It is a technique that requires a TON of patience! A few tips. First of all, when you think you are going too slow, go slower!! Second, you are going to pick up some snags if fishing brush, and grass on every cast if fishing it. It goes with the territory. But the frustrations of these annoyances can pay BIG dividends. Think about how many anglers actually fish a spinnerbait this slow. Those in the know and a few pros. Fish it as you would fish a jig and pig. You are going to get hung up, but many times, it will be a bass!

UPDATE: Looks like I will be upgrading my towing rig. 1998 Z71 Silverado 4x4, black like my Skeeter and loaded! Should have it in on Tuesday!

Draggin' spinnerbaits
It works!! I actually learned this method fishing with KVD in the 97 Minnesota Top 100. He used it alot on Minnetonka on various humps with weedbeds in deeper (15-18 ft.) water. He caught some big smallies that day! Since then, I have had success with this technique also. It is important to have a sensitive rod when working a spinnerbait this slow as you need to feel those blades turrning.

You're Not Catching Any Bass?

Bass resource pro team
I think LBH was just making a suggestion and didn't really mean that was set in stone so to speak. Really, it ws more informative if you look under the surface. Need info on a particular subject, those gents are a good place to start.
