  1. Nice, congrats to you also! I qualified through the Northern Regional at Lake Erie. All the replies I've been getting is... Watch your lower unit. Ha
  2. I'll be fishing a big tournament as a non boater on Santee Cooper....I'll be down there the second week of November and was wondering what I could expect? I'm hearing Cypress trees will be a big deal... Any tips or suggestions on good lures or tricks to try? Thanks guys!
  3. Hello. Has anyone here ever pursued a fishing lure idea and know the proper steps to get it possibly recognized and produced...? Basically, a good friend and I came up with an idea and technique that caught tons of really nice largemouth and a few smallmouth this year... It has worked very well for a few friends of ours that used it all the way down to Okeechobee and up to Champlain! The few guys that we did show it to were blown away by the idea and thought it was incredible. Now, we don't have the resources at home to build our own supplies, so we have been modifying other lures and borrowing other accessories to build these. We are just regular fisherman with very little connections but I have been talking with a new tackle company about becoming part of their Field Staff but I'm afraid to pitch the idea to them then lose it all. Can anyone suggest the best possible way to get this lure recognized and not get burned by a tackle company or anyone else that loves the idea...? Thank you very very much.
  4. Another good point fishfordollars... It can be very dangerous. I just got back from Detroit River and it was rough. First day guy was a local and sort of knew how to manage the rough waters but I still did get beat up. Second day guy was terrible. Worse ride of my life and my neck, back, and spine are still hurting from the ride...
  5. I'm pretty sure that you have to be at least 18 years of age. I remember seeing that on one of the forms that I signed along the way The only Open that I know of so far for 2011 is Kissimmee in January. I have fished most of the Opens this year as a co-angler and I agree with Tommy 100%. You HAVE to have a good attitude going into these events and you really can't expect much. It's ALL about the draw. I have out fished every one of my "pros" from the back except one and still never had much weight for the event. I did make a bunch of new friends this year and I did learn a few new tricks along the way too. If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me or just post here and I'd be happy to help you. Good luck!
  6. Hello. I'm getting conflicting reports on whether or not I would need a passport for fishing Canadian waters. I was told as long as my boat doesn't dock or come in contact with another vessel, I will be fine. Anyone know for sure or had any problems fishing St. Clair or Erie? Thanks!!!
  7. If anyone fishing the event has room in their boat for a practice partner please let me know! Thanks. phelps117@yahoo.com
  8. I personally believe that the bass are just sick of any Sexy Shad color anymore! He'll bounce back... Probably even a win! For now, he's off my Fantasy team though. >
  9. Does anyone here ever fish this lake and care to share any reports or info? Thanks!
  10. I would suggest Lake Nockamixon. It is on fire right now!
  11. I have used Steve McDonald from http://www.bassmasterguideservice.com/ for years. He is a great guy and fishes the 'Glades almost every day. He is also great if you want to fish for Peacock's as well! Tell him Kevin sent you. Last March Steve took me on a trip to the Holy Lands and I caught the two pigs that are in my avatar picture! I'll be fishing with him next Wednesday as well! Let me know if you need any more info...
  12. I'm a coangler looking for a pro with an empty back deck for practice... If there is anyone fishing the Bass Open that wouldn't mind some company and extra gas money please let me know! Thanks. phelps117@yahoo.com
  13. Thanks for the suggestions guys! The lake and glades sound perfect. Tommy, we'll be down 16-20th...
  14. Hello all! I booked a trip down to Florida in mid March for a few days of bass fishing. I'm staying in Esterio and am looking for suggestions or guides within the area. We have one day booked at Okee out of Roland's already. Any ideas or imput would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!
  15. I'd have to say Swindle as well. He is due for a big win and hopefully he will buy new shorts then!
  16. You would be surprised of how many tournament pros still do this. However, the resources and information handed to top pros is incredible. They may have never been to a body of water and they will have waypoints, custom lures, and the winning pattern in their back pocket. What do you guys think about helicopter rides over tournament waters and just recently renting of air boat guides on Okeechobee to find hidden ponds? Today's pros are very very clever...
  17. Good job man! It was very tough down there. It was also very impressive that caught yourself a limit. It seemed like you only needed one good solid flipping bite a day or a few smaller Senko/ Dipper bites to get a decent check! I was also shocked on how hard those guys are on their boats and motors. We saw a guy ripping through the shallowest junk and he was shooting 9' of mud and sand into the air! We got stuck on a sandbar during practice too. I guess that is why all of those Florida boys have push poles in their boats!
  18. We found tons of dying Snook at Okeechobee last week! I didn't think they lived in there but there were hundreds in the shallows up to 20lbs... What does a Pleco look like? There was also tons of dying Tilapia too.
  19. Great job Tommy! Who did you get to fish with? I didn't fare as well as you but I did manage to flip one fish in for 70th... I lost a real nice one under the mats that should've helped a lot! Oh well. My buddy fished with Chris today and they started in a pond that was very difficult to get to... He said it was loaded with huge females that were roaming in packs! He had the bites to win the tournament but he just didn't get them in the boat... However, Chris lost an eight pounder but still held on for the win!
  20. I fished down in Miami yesterday and we caught them on jerkbaits! We did see a bunch of Oscars acting funny though... No dead Peacocks seen around Holiday Park either. The weather has been brutal down there.

Thanks guys! Mike- I'm from the Allentown area!
  22. Hello guys! I'm actually signed up as a co-angler for all of the Northern and Southern Opens... I'm hoping to learn a lot and have fun! If any boater/ pro is looking for a practice partner PLEASE let me know! Don't worry, my lips are sealed in case you find a honey hole and I would pay for gas or beer... If any of you are still thinking of signing up for Smith or Seminole, I have seen tons of posts on other boards that are begging for links! They will split room costs and practice time too. I wish I would've waited... > Cody- What tournaments are you on the waiting list for? I was still kicking around the thought of fishing Amistad... Best of luck to all of you!
