  1. I have tried many (TOO many) types of "custom" set-ups for vibrating bladed jigs,,, NOTHING works better than a Jackhammer - PERIOD!! I spent WAY too much $$$$ trying to improve the mousetrap.. Just buy them.. any of them.. save your time and $$$$!!
  2. We are allowed to fish from the bank in our home county without a license.
  3. You are definitely on the right track.. Invest... there are many ways.. most are covered here. The best advice is to sacrifice at an early age and CONTINUE to sacrifice until you are ready to retire.. at your age, unfortunately there will NOT BE ANY SOCIAL SECURITY FOR YOUR GENERATION! When you go to college - take MATH & MATH,..numbers are what makes the DOLLARS go round!! Learn how money works.. its a LOT more complicated than most people know (ALOT MORE)... take all money management and economics courses you can!! NEVER EVER FORGET - Its YOUR money.. YOU EARNED IT!! KEEP IT!! Prepare for taking care of yourself!!!! NO ONE ELSE WILL!!! Reinvest all dividends, watch for trends.. I retired at 51 years old... I fish 3-5 days a week. SAVE for later in life.. you will NEVER regret it!!
  4. Just save up and spend the money for a lifetime hunting/fishing license. Geeeezzzzz... you spend tens of thousands and thousands on a boat, electronics, tackle, clothing, etc..etc... WHY NOT??? -- THERE IS NO EXCUSE NOT TO HAVE ONE!! I bought mine (hunting/fishing-$350) back in 1987!!! Its paid for its self many times over!! ....and you never have to worry!
  5. Rick Clunn, Gary Klein, KVD, Hank P., Ike, Hackney, Zona, Gman..ALL for obvious reasons
  6. Save your money longer..or get another part time job... $100 rods will only disappoint you!!! (Tacklewarehouse) *
  7. get some (borrow) scuba diving fins and a good mask.. you should be able to get down for a little while and find it... if the lake has current...good luck...use a 3/4 water hose for air if you need more time...(hook it securely to a snorkel!!)
  8. I have the Revo on a St. Croix Legend..LOVE it and you can buy TWO of these... (TackleWarehouse!!) St. Croix Legend Tournament Cast Rod 7'1" Medium -- $ REVO ALX-HS -- ($$ METMGL150XG) -- ($$$ TW1016SV-SH) St. Croix Legend Tournament Cast Rod 7'2" Medium -- $ REVO ALX-HS -- ($$ METMGL150XG) -- ($$$ TW1016SV-SH) oh yea,,,forgot... - my fishing neighbor just bought 2 Loomis GLX rods and put two ABU's -RVO3 PRM-HS (Revo Premier Gen3) ,, they are AWESOME and got both at Cabelas for $1000.00!!
  9. The trick is to get a reel that works with the rod you have... unless you have been fishing for a while and are able to take many different reels and use them on different rods (lengths and actions) you will never know what works the best... ... the best reels always work best on the best rods.... match the reel spec's (wide spools for vibrating baits long casts) to the rod's action for what you want to use the combo for! Just make sure you like the feel in your hands.
  10. Sound like it might work as a good hot jerkbait rod..?? Heavy jigs, bigger spinnerbaits, ...???? odd size and action...??
  11. Spinning or casting? Sorry... thats just not enough $$$ for a really good rod and reel. Try $700.00 and get ONE of the GOOD rods and reels instead of 2 or 3 cheapo's!! Just about any of the latest ultralight weight casting reels that have 10+ bearings and the top of the line Loomis,Dobyns, Abu, Denali, PT, or some of the great Japanese rods.
  12. Sorry... but if you do not see the necessity of flippin' .. you haven't been to a lake/river that has high water/flooded bushes and 60* dirty water... there is nothing like whackin' a 6lb'er with 10 feet of line out..deep behind some flooded buck bushes.. and just muscle that toad out of the junk!! After a spring COLD front, flippin' is the go-to method for lock jawed monsters!! I have won several early spring open's by flippin ONLY!! The differences of when to flip or pitch is water clarity, cover you are fishing(how thick it is) and water temp(active fish or not) and a little consideration to the depth.
  13. What is the latest info on Ed's - ZOOM - crankbaits,,any new ones out.. WHERE is the BEST place to get them?THANKS! Steve
