  1. Thanks for the reply. I will pull the covers back and check the line.
  2. Hello, I have a 2005 bass tracker pro team 175 with a 50hp mercury. Everything was running fine last fall and I winterized the boat for winter. Last week I took the boat out for the first time and the motor started up just fine. I went for a 2-3 minute run and when I came to my spot to fish I pulled back the throttle but the outboard kept running at full rpm's. I ended up having to turn off the ignition and upon restarting the motor it went straight to max rpm's with the throttle being in the neutral position. I tried restarting a few times but with each try, the same thing happened. I then with the motor off, push the throttle back and forth several times and then restarted the motor. This time it ran at normal idle rpm's but with a rough idle. For the rest of evening, I never had the over revving problem but another issue occurred. After making a run, I would back down the throttle but the motor wouldn't go below 2500 rpm's. I was then forced to shut off the engine to come to a stop. The throttle would get very hard to move back to give the outboard less throttle, resulting in the outboard not being able to go below 2500 rpm's. After shutting down the motor, it would then allow me to move the throttle lever as you normally would be able too. Sorry for the long post and I hope this all makes sense (as I'm not much of a mechanic.) I hope you all can help me out. Thanks!
  3. I should also add that my problem starting is only on a cold start. Once it starts on the river it will start at a flick of the key after that. Thanks
  4. Has anyone tried this stuff on an aluminum boat? I have a bass tracker.
  5. I bought a 2003 bass tracker pro team 165 a couple of months ago. The guy that owned it before me upgraded the motor to a 40HP Merc. This boat is just the older version of the one your looking at. I like the boat (it's my first boat). I got for $3,000. Can't beat that. If I had $9,000 to spend though, I think I would get a lightly used pro team 175. They are a nicer boat in my opinion. When I can offord it I will be moving up to the 175 or a small glass boat. But with that said, the pro 16 will catch fish just find. Hope this helps.
  6. Yes, most of the gas around here is 10% Ethanol. The gas that's in the tank is a couple of months old but was treated with Stabil Marine. I used the correct amount for storage (1 ounce per 5 gallons). The motor was serviced by a boat mechanic 2 weeks ago. He change the spark plugs, lower lube, and water impeller. He also made adjustments to the idle and timing advance. Thanks
  7. I will look into getting my carbs cleaned. I have heard of people using sea foam to clean there carbs? How did you clean yours? Thanks
  8. Once I pump up the primer bulb it stays firm. How would I tell if my primer bulb is going bad? The gas tank is not a removable. It's a 13 gallon tank that came with the boat. I have not tried the vent on the tank.
  9. I hope you're running it in the driveway with muffs on, or in a dunk tank, otherwise you've probably destroyed the impeller (and or the water pump). Huge no no. Sounds like you're overheating the engine. The engine will not re-start if overheated. I am running it on muffs with a water hose running into it. Sorry I should said that in my post.
  10. Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and just bought my first boat. It's a 2003 bass tracker pro team 165 with a mercury 40HP 2 stroke. I have only had the boat out 3 times so far. Everytime before I took the boat out on the river I ran the motor at the house for 5 minutes or so. And each time it started right up after 1 or 2 cranks of the key. But when I get down to river 5 minutes later, it takes 10-15 minutes to get it started back up. Can someone give me some advice. I'm not sure what's going on, and why it won't start in the river but will in my driveway. If you need more information to help just let me know. Thanks guys!
