  1. Got one no complaints yet. not sure how i feel about the foam over the cork...we'll see..
  2. I have to say I am extremely impressed with the performance of this reel. No noise during casting, super smooth and sensitive. I also was impressed with the ability of the reel to cast lighter lures. Thought I'd share for those who like a quality product but can't spend 200.00
  3. My buddy got one this afternoon at one our apt ponds...and saw some others out there later this pm...still slow tho.
  4. The first pond on right after you make the turn off nuckols..I caught me a 30 lb cat outta there last year....on a super fluke and tons of decent bass..nothing over 2 lbs though. the ones in the back( across nuckols) have been dreged recently and most of the fish are still small... I live 3 mins from it and caught most of mine early in the am in the summer.
  5. Nice man..I fish the local ponds here as well caught a nice 3lber yesterday on a jig...but none today. Its getting wamer though...thanks for the tip on the grubs...Ive never used them much...maybe i'll try it
  6. I need any tips recommendations and techniques to catch some smallies on the James. I don't regularly have boat access so I'd appreciate any shore or wading tips one may have...matter of fact I just need tips on river fishing in general..current is a different animal..
  7. No I want it tho..the local tackleshop here can't keep em in stock and none have come back according to them. At 50$ worth a shot. Keep receipt
  8. love it. I use the 8lb as well on my spinning reels. The only thing when spooling make sure loops are coming off big or the line will end up sticking to itself...only line I've seen do this
  9. If you have gander mt nearby they have a killer sale on some great reels...I got the daiwa exceler baitcast( my first) and a gander mt elite for 79.99 0n sale from 139.00 check them out too. The other post makes a good point about baits as if you've been on spinning alot of your current baits may be a tad light to throw.
  10. watermelon seed zoom super fluke...3/0 ewg gamakatsu. Man....I cant wait to use this bait again...right now they just look at it and probably wonder what his rush is...
  11. I have the same one and its been great as well..A friend that works at a top retailer of fishing tackle suggested the same as the gentleman did about letting it break in. However I looked at the manual and where to lube it....I'm not comfortable with that much breakdown of the reel myself. I was told it even takes a little time to cast to its fullest potential...I'm just gonna use the s&*! outta mine and Daiwa will just have to back up their product should it not go right. I did alot of research before I bought it cuz I didnt wanna spend 200. Mind you I did understand I would be giving up some performance...i.e. not a curado..but a great reel to cut teeth on and if taking care of a solid addition to an arsenal..beleive me...I'll let you know about mine..very picky about my gear
  12. Big bite baits..squirrel tail woms 6.5 inch bluke fleck blue.I like strike kings as well but those are difficult to get on a screw bait keeper type jig head....big bites are cheaper..like a ribbed worm but taper in the center with a fat tail that floats...I feel the only thing that matters in shakey head is the tail sticking up...these are my pick..light weight..light line...I've got the only bass I have caught this winter with this bait....the only thing..no major dist I've seen carry em. I don't know how they feel about me dropping store names...but check in Ashland Va
  13. Nice point Mike....you know sometimes I get so caught up in catching and why I'm not catching I forget the reason I enjoy it so much.....the peace...
  14. I was reading Hank Parker swears by this almanac thing...and moon phases..I went this morning from 9-12ish..no bites will update on my 330- sundown run....gotta find em :o
  15. Maybe a bit off subject...but sometimes I feel I'm getting "milked" by all these "technique specific" rods.... I mean don't get me wrong I know the feeling of searching for that rod that will present a go to bait as best as possible...and I too am a multiple rod fisherman...but I have a buddy one 6 ft med action...does everything I do with 3...I may not be considering the fact 90 percent of our fishing is done from shore...but I know back in the day they didn't market rods this way. Yes you may have found a rod you like for this or that but it wasn't purchased because its a "shakey head" rod or "frog" rod.....just seems alot of stuff out here is geared to catch me.....not fish
  16. Hey I was wondering if any of you have ever tested these theorys http://www.farmersalmanac.com/best_days/fishing check it out
  17. When I use learned data from all the "studying" I do pays off..regognizing a pattern and working it to catch multiple bass always gets me going.
  18. Its good to see there are numbers of us that shore fish. I am looking forward to sharing and learning.
  19. funny THAT IS KVD - ! His wife Sherry posted this picture the other day while he was ice fishing with Zona here in Michigan. A-Jay
  20. Bass Pro just came out with a binder that hold four per page and comes with 6 pages. Works for spinners but not buzz...I've only seen the falcon buzzbait box but didn't want to pay 25 busks for it. Looks efficient tho.
  21. Culprit 7.5 in red shad.
  22. If they can learn we aren't gonna hurt em and take food from our hands then I'm sure they can call out a lure when they see it a few times....thats booyah...oh nice ratl trap...lucky craft...guy spent 20 on that..isn't it pretty..
  23. Hank Parker said in Bassin mag if its muddy and cold find new water....but if you had to I hear chart and white spinnerbaits work well...My home waters are like this and ive only been catching on black and blue tubes and junebug finesse worms on shakey head lightest weight possible
  24. Well too have watched an amazing amt of on demand fishing shows...video game fishing...and throwing practice plugs in the backyard while the dog chases it through the snow.....reminds me of topwater...lol..I'm gonna fish this weekend tho!!! I've surveyed my little pond by the house and no ice.....today at least.....almost forgot one of my faves...fill the bathtub and see what this rig and that rig does...I actually found a great shaky worm like this
  25. I am new to this forum as well as the addicting game I've found...bass fishing. Yes I am the guy you see as you leave work...shake your head and say...theres no fish in there..but I find em where i can and have fun at it. I do 98% of my fishing from the bank of my local ponds i.e. apts, office parks, I look forward to sharing stories, observations and above all learning from others on the website. Thanks
