Is this normal ? Or, am I just getting old ?
I know how you feel, and I will be 43 next Monday. I used to get in the boat and this competetive nature would take over and I would just cast and cast and fish hard. Last year I found out that my wife likes to fish too, and now she has become my fishing partner. Seems the competetive part has drifted away a little and I will find myself sitting in the seat not fishing at all, just looking around, taking it easy, relaxing, and then I will here her "are you going to fish, or just sit there" LOL ;D

Spinning Reel
Looking for a spinning reel in that up to $50.00 range. Multi purpose for both bass and walleye fishing. I like to bass fish more, but the walleye is our state fish, so sometimes I have to conform and do what I have to do. What would you suggest? Thanks!

My wallet got a little lighter................
Went to our local Sportsmans show this weekend...............twice! The first night (Thursday) I bought a few lures and a new Vendetta casting rod, looking at the new Humminbird SI units and spotted a cool cutlery set that I thought we could use in the camper, but passed on the SI and the cutlery set. Sunday came and I did not have anything to do so I thought maybe the cutlery set would be on closeout price because it was the last day, so I decided to go again. Well, the cutlery set was marked down, so I bought it (six steak knives in a nice block, the knives have antique fishing lures as handles) what a great deal! Then I looked at the SI units again, oh boy! Ended up buying the 898, Navtronics, Ram Mount, and they threw in a Humminbird video so I can figure this thing out, $1499.00 for everything out the door including tax and shipping. Last time I go back to get a good deal on a cutlery set!

Mojo Bass Rods
I seem to like these rods and they fit into my budget too. What do you think of them? I have 3 BC reels, so if I were to pair them up with Mojo rods what would you reccommend? The reels I have are a 6:3:1, 6:4:1, and a 7:1:1. I like to throw buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, worms, senkos, lipless cranks, swimbaits, and frogs. What Mojo rods would you pair with the above reels with the above baits to get the best results? I hope my questions make sense?

Anyone else use the Tornado?
I remember buying my first bunch of them when they were released from BPS, they came in a tin can! Just curious if anyone else uses them. They have been a great multi purpose bait for me and I have had great success with them. I like to fish buzzbaits, so this lure fills that, plus adds a spinnerbait, and a jig to it. You can get three different presentations with one cast if you want to. I was just curious.

Thanks for making winter a little easier..............
It has been a long d**n winter here in South Dakota, but lucky for me I have found BR! I have really appreciated reading everything that has been posted. Iam on this board reading all of the time! Last year I bought my first boat (16' Alumacraft) after discovering how much my wife enjoys fishing and we go almost every weekend. We like to camp too, so we look like a couple of gypsies going down the road to the campground pulling the camper and the boat behind the camper. Sure is strange that it took me 41 years to realize how much I enjoy doing both, I have always liked to bass fish, but now it is even better since the lake is only a couple of minutes from the portable house! We were in BPS a couple of weeks ago and I picked up a new reel and some more lures for this years season, I check Cabelas regularly because they are closer, and next weekend is our big Sportsmans show, and now I can say that the bait monkey has gotten me.............I read that all of the time, and now I finally got to say it! Sorry for the long read, but I really did want to show my appreciation for all of you and this site.

Speedo Does Not Work
I have a 16' Alumacraft boat with a 40 horse Yamaha on the back, but the console speedo does not work. I know this is not a huge deal because I have a speedo on my Humminbird, and my speed with the 40 is not something to be too worried about, but I thought if it was a easy fix I would like to try and fix it so all of the console gauges work. The boat and motor are both '92's or 94's, I cannot remember right now, pretty sure they are 92's. Thanks

Transducer Mounting Board II
I just remembered from my first post that I also have the speed paddle installed too, so that is more holes in the transom than I remembered. Is there a better hole filling procedure than my silicone and a screw procedure? I thought a could do that and then cover the back of the mounting plate with silicone too? Thanks again!

Transducer Mounting Board
Thanks, I appreciate it. It just so happens that we are going there next weekend.

Transducer Mounting Board
I bought my first boat last year which is a Alumacraft 16 footer with a side console, but the Lowrance fish finder did not power up, so I bought a entry level Humminbird to replace it with. I installed the new unit, but had to go right into the transom with the transducer, just like the old unit was mounted. I was able to use one of the two original holes, but had to make a new one and fill the old one. Now I would like to pull it off, fill the old holes with silicone and a screw, mount the transducer mounting board and reinstall the transducer. Where can I buy the mounting board? Iam thinking about upgrading the new fish finder with a newer fish finder and moving the new fish finder to the front of the boat, but I don't want to put more holes in the transom for the new transducer. Thanks, I really appreciate it.

Of what I have read so far I have picked the right forum, you folks have the knowledge. We fish the lakes around here in se SD and have pretty fair luck.
