yes, they are very strong and sharp and KVD designed them so you can use bigger sizes on your cranks. It is the only hook I use now on mine I think they are that good.

I am a big believer in red hooks on the front. They do wear out the paint but I use that as a reminder to change hooks so they are always sharp. I notice the bass take the front hook much better if it is red. It certainly can not hurt. Also, you can't go wrong with Texas Tackly split ring pliers for changing hooks out. Love those pliers and Cabelas has them.
