  1. I love 'em. I have two right now, 6.4 and 7.1. I will probably get more in the future. I just picked up the second one Yesterday. They had the new style at Bass Pro, but apparently not in left hand yet. I ended up with the older straight handled one. But hey, if you buy any Abu reel over 159.99 before September 7th, you can get a free pair of Wiley X P-17 or ZAK's. I sent the stuff in for mine today, let's hope they don't try to screw me. I'll let you guys know how it works out.
  2. Same here actually, I bought the Vendetta earlier today. I got it because this will be a worm/jerk bait rod, which both seem to work best on a MH-Fast rod, and I REALLY liked how the grip feels. All of my other rods are full cork handles, and this one felt so much more comfortable. This rod paired with the Revo SX and 12# Pline weighs 14 ounces according to my fish scale. I checked to see if the scale is correct with a small weight that I know is exactly 2 pounds, and it was dead on. I was pretty surprised by that. The rest of my rods are of the less expensive range, and they all weighed about 1lb4oz and up. I didn't expect my flippin' to be very light though ;D So far, just playing around with it casting in the back yard with junk lures and weights, I like it a lot. But I can't say much more until I actually put it to use.
  3. That was my first thought, but both guys working the counter use the same thing on their weightless/jerk bait rods. It's Pline "Ultra Thin" flouro coated line. Without breaking out the calipers, it doesn't seem to be a whole lot thicker than the 8# on my Dropshot rod. I was out messing around with other slightly larger broken/unused baits, and a 1/4oz weight, and it cast's great. Around 40-60 feet depending on weight. Should be great when I get used to it and can turn the brakes down.
  4. Well I went to Bass Pro today to check out what they had and the guy at the counter gave me some good advise. Go with what you know. I ended up with another Revo SX paired it with a "worm" rod and some 12# Pline. I have to say, I couldn't be happier. I already had one before and liked it, but now that I have the same thing set up correctly for casting lighter baits, it works pefectly. I was just out practicing with the smallest bait I had, which was an old 1-1/2" baby Rapala with no hooks on it. I can safely cast that little guy a good 30 feet out. I dont think I can find a lighter bait than that, and it will only get easier from there. Can't wait for this snow to go away so I can put it to use. ;D
  5. I just came on here to ask the same question. Right now, I have an Abu Garcia C4 with braid on a 7'6" flipping stick, which works great for everything I tie to it. Then, I have my AG Revo SX, which I spooled with 17# mono for this season. I plan to use this mainly for the bigger cranks and all that. Whats the trick to casting the smaller stuff though? What weight and type of line should I use? I can't shell out $200+ for a reel though.. At the most, I was thinking of getting another Revo SX, since it could cast pretty light stuff before I up'd the line size. Is there any other reels under the $200 price range that might be better?
  6. Wow, and I thought I had been on a spending spree today! I cleared out a lot of half off stuff at Gander, and had to get some terminal tackle so I'll be ready to go when Michigan thaws out. I'll get some pictures of all my tackle when I'm done organizing what I just bought.
  7. Sure can't. And we just got dumped with another 6-8 inches of snow > Thanks guys. I've already learned some new stuff! For one thing, I'm WAY behind on my lures and bait collection going by what I seen in that thread.
  8. Hey! my names Chris. I decided I'd join up here after deciding my local area forums is not the kind of forum that people can expect a good sense of common courtesy, or any kind of decent help. Looking at the terms of use from registration here, this place will be much better Anyways, I live in Swartz Creek Michigan. I fish mostly for bass, but had decent luck catching pike last summer as well. I meant to do some Bluegill fishing, but never took the time. I mostly fished in lakes called Lobdell Lake, Lake Ponemah, and Lake Fenton. Looking to expand this summer, try to get out into some other lakes outside my area. I'll mostly be doing a lot of reading, but I'll post where my knowledge is applicable and when I need someone to ring in on something I'm not so sure about.
