I Finally Got Lucky, But Somone Else Didnt..
My mom is driving around in a 2009 Nissan Rogue she bought for 10K off of some woman in her church who was getting divorced. Moral of the story, never get married, just keep fishing.

What Is Your Workhorse Reel?
I don't know about you all, but I haven't had to fish too much for strippers.

What Is Your Workhorse Reel?
Pfluger President. My reel of choice. However, if we're talking about baitcaster's I'd say Curado.

Lake Frederick
Leaving early tomorrow morning to head up there. This will be my first time fishing there. From what I understand, this is a tough lake. Will update tomorrow evening or Sunday. Hopefully, someone on the boat will catch one of those 9 pounders. If you've got some spots PM me.

Good Spinning Reel For Under $100.00?
I still love my Pflueger Presidents. I know there are probably better ones out there, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? A friend has a nice Shimano that is very smooth, we'll see if he'll chime in, he's "pikesnogle" on here.

Weirdest Thing You've Reeled In
Lampshade. Caught it as a kid, about 18 years ago.

Rod and Reel <170
Think a weedless spoon, with a lock of moose hair on the back that would "whistle" coming through the water. I can't seem to find them anywhere, but I'll see if my uncle can snap a picture of one if he has any left.

Rod and Reel <170
Something I caught big *** fish on up in Maine a few years ago.

Rod and Reel <170
I know this is a tall order, but just got a refund from a previous online purchase that I really wasn't expecting. Stipulations: -Baitcaster -Less than 7ft, if it's a one-piece rod. If it's a 2 piece, not a problem, it'll break down fine and will fit in my Accord. -I know this may be met with some skepticism, but I really like the yellow on the Skeet Reese stuff (I'm a WVU alum) -Where I purchase must take paypal About my locations: -Mostly small lakes with clear water -Some upper potomac river locations -Clear and deep resovoirs -Shore fishing (no boat, unless I decide to rent one) "Regular" baits -Senkos, senkos, and more senkos -Swimbaits if I'm at the river -Top-water in the evening if I'm there -Mooselock whistlers about 2% of the time (e.g. light baits for the most parts) If it really matters, I'm in the Northern Virginia area, so those bodies of water.

Goose Creek
Yep. Just put in 200 yards right, off the rocks at the entrance of Kip. You'll have great bass and black croppie fishing for as log as you want.

Goose Creek
I would just like to say. For the shore fisherman the new trail all down the Potomac and goose is amazing. Went the 3/4 mile from kipheart to the Potomac. Great fishing from wading to holes to cover all the way down. When you get to the river it's gorgeous not to mention golfers will like the view of river creek and the Norman course.

Goose Creek
If you go up Evergreen Mills Rd. behind Brambelton and the Reservoir there is a bridge that crosses over Goose Creek a few hundred yards after Reservoir Rd. on the West side of the reservoir. About 3 years ago they had closed this down. But, a few weeks back I was talking to some people in Yak's saying they dropped in there, that it wasn't posted anymore. Not sure if the chain is still there. They had put in there and floated down the same way you are talking about and got out where my friend and I were shore fishing at Kipheart Bridge park, about 3/4 mile short of the river in Landsdowne. May be worth a look for you. I know my friend and I used to do well on the shore where they put in. I really wish I could get to the old bridge/concrete something or other that is off to the left of the bridge on Sycolin and it seems that is the closest point to put in and get to it.

New Topwater Ive Been Playing With
Send some proto's to me in VA. I'll tell you if they work or not. I'm getting in a lot of fishing time while I'm unemployed, even though I'm not a greatly experienced bass fisherman. Just kidding, but not really...

First smallie
I grew up fishing creeks in the Shenandoah Valley for stocked trout, as well as tying my own flies. My buddy has me hooked on bass fishing now. This was my first smallie ever, caught on the potomac with a pearl white 3/8 oz. swimbait, 2 days ago. It's roughly 3"'s away from my 260 lb. body, I'd say roughly just over a pound, based on what I caught today after weighing them. I'm hooked, he definitely put up a fight, my newbie self would compare it to a 3 pound largemouth I caught last week.

New Here... (Ashburn, VA)
Nice to see a very local guy on here. I grew up in Sterling, spent most of my teenage years at the Herndon golf course. Where have you been fishing this year?

broken digital scales
Go figure, I'm having hard times to get my scale registering more than 15 ounces. Rough Spring for me...

Pitching---What is Considered a Long Pitch?
I'm in the early stages of baitcasting. 10' accurately. 25' or so with a birdsnest. FML.

Fishing for hogs on the potomac
Nice hogs. I'm pathetic when I've gone out to Algonkian park on the P-mac. Last two times I've only brought in 2 smallies about a pound each. I need to know your secret. Besides the obvious having a boat.

Shimano or Abu Garcia Bait Caster
Well I'll tell you what he did, as he's my fishing buddy. He went out and bought a Curado, I went out and bought a Revo S. So, we now have both sides. I'm sure many hours of arguing will go on over which one is better.

Learning Lessons(Northern virginia)
I think a friend an I are headed out to Beaverdam on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday this week. I live a mile from the dock as the crow flies. We just got an inflatable 4 person "raft" "boat" what have you and it will be here Tuesday. I'm technically a newbie as well, but my friend kinda knows what he's doing. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut right? PM me if interested.

Loudoun County Fishing?
Can't PM yet, haven't reached the post count, but sounds like you had decent luck. I usually catch some fish, nothing to write home about, on X-raps out there. A buddy and I attempted to walk to the d**n from Mt. Hope last Friday, bad idea. All the trees are still down from the monster snow, we got halfway and said the heck with it and each of us pulled off 5+ ticks when we got back to the truck. "Boat" comes Tuesday. With a friend and I splitting the cost it was only 40 a man, so if it doesn't work out we're only out a few bucks. I won't have a problem just keeping it in the basement and taking it out on non-fishing excursions. New Abu Garcia baitcaster comes late this week, so I'm sure I'll have some serious practice to do. Maybe we can all get together at some point and see what we can do. Today, we went out to the lakes in Reston. Audoban (sp?), Anne, etc. No luck. Finally found a spot we were doing pretty well at and a group of 10 people with dogs just comes up on me and my friend and has their dogs run out into the water while our lines were still in. How rude do you have to be? I've been having pretty good success at all ponds/lakes with 3/8 oz. Mepps. Silver/Blue's.

Loudoun County Fishing?
Yes. Actually in my current inebriated state... I just bought an inflatable 4 person boat/raft rated to 840lbs. (edited, can't post links until 10 posts) I live a mile away from Beaverdam, so that is what this will mainly be used on. Any tips? I know there's a "bridge" underwater about 200 yards left of the "dock" they have there. Not really sure on what to throw out there, we've had good luck on spinners.

New Here... (Ashburn, VA)
Just wanted to introduce myself. Currently located in Northern Virginia, Loudoun County. I've been on a fishing kick for a few years and have been getting more and more serious. I grew up fishing trout stocked creeks in Edinburgh, VA with my Uncles and Grandfather for Trout via personally tied flies on fly reels. That was 10 years ago before my grandfather passed, I'm just starting to get back into it, heading out with a buddy of mine locally searching for bass. I'm an extreme newbie when it comes to all of this bass stuff and am in the process of upgrading my gear (spinning only at the moment) while I search for a job after graduating from W.V.U. last May. When I finally land a job, I'm hoping to go all out and get a kayak/boat/canoe.

Loudoun County Fishing?
So a buddy of mine have been heading out a lot so far this season. We've mainly hit up the ponds in Ashburn and Round Hill. Nothing to write home about, but a few 2-3 pounders caught off some 3-5' x-raps. I'm looking to upgrade my rod/reel. What would you all suggest for waters around here? I think I'm going to step up to a baitcasting lure from my current spinning rig. Glad to meet you all and hope to be a "regular" on here.
