Are Bass Not Going To Be Active Midday In 100 Degree Weather (Small Pond)?
Nice !!! Slow way down, the pond or lake may not have the o2 level and cooler water it needs to keep the fish active enough for every other one to bite, so the fish become a little more dosile and won't expend the energy to grab a meal, it's tough to be out there in the heat of the day, even tougher to fish and hold your mentality together long enough to get the fish to react to a bait.

Fishing Cover
It's that time of year when the fishin really slows down, targeting big bass is always on our minds everytime we go out, the best advice I can give is first of all find a bite of any kind and see what they are wanting, or if you know the big 'uns are in the cover you are fishing, then slow way down, the fish are not going to expend any energy for a meal if they dont have to, so it will take some time for them to decide how bad they want it. So my thoughts would be to pitch a jig in and around there and work it very slow, also my other go to bait under and around cover is the drop shot, it seems to get more of a reaction than the jig does under some pretty tuff conditions. Good luck and be safe !!!

South East Storms
Thanx !!! Thanx !!! I hear a lot of stories around the area here, tornado's seemed to have touched down in several areas, Hope all is well with your wife's friend and family. Red Earth, Man the heat was almost unbearible, I am one who likes it hot but the stuffiness was almost too much even sitting in the basement, I did however find some ice and of course a 5 gallon bucket to keep the beer in lol. Hope all is well and you get power back as soon as possible. You are exactly right, it's all material stuff, and thats all it is. Thanx !!! and I hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

South East Storms
Well, Where does one start, the first thing I want to say is I hope everyone made it through the storms ok this past Friday night, they were NASTY to say the least. Went through my first tornado and seen my first funnel cloud in person, actually there were 3 funnel clouds that I could make out when the lightning would light up the night, although they were small in comparison to the ones you see on TV out west they still packed a pretty good punch. This is my house after Friday night, This was a 12X18 building where my bass boat was kept, Here you can see the path that the rest of the building took before it came to rest in the road that passes in front of my house. Incase your wondering, the bass boat is down over the hill too, along with the trailer, not to worry though the boat and trailer survived with very little damage, it broke the windshield and put a few chips in the paint and peppered my engine cover, the trailer has to have new lighting and one tire. The odd thing is, you can't see it in the pics but just to the right of the building was an empty aluminum tool box that goes on the back of your pick up, all it did to that was flip it upside down, it weighs approx 30 lbs. It took my 11,000 lb camper and pushed it about 6 ft, from where it is normally stored. No one was hurt, that is the most important part and the part I am most thankfull for. There were trees down everywhere, big trees too, we were with out power for the whole weekend, the power companys were on the ball and busy restoring power to a ton of people and by the end of the weekend they had most all power restored. It was 108 in the shade at the house yesterday, I can only imagine having to cut timber, lift powerlines, and install new poles that were broken in work vests and long pants and shirts, Thanks Guys and Gals !!!! I hope everyone else did ok !!! Good luck and be safe !!!

My View On The Water First Thing This Morning On Smith Mountain...
Absolutly, anytime you want let me know, I pulled my old truck out of the weeds here recently and found my rear spring shackles have rotted away, it's not expencive to fix but just getting the parts and gettting it done is going to take a little time, thats one reason why I need to wait until fall comes around but the other is Anna is just like SML during the weekend she is a little smaller but I think has just as many boats as SML lol. As soon as I can get her ready I will give you a shout though, hopefully here in a few weeks, do week days work for you?

I look forward to that Zoff, I most likely will make it a fall trip when the fun boaters have slowed down a little and we can enjoy a little more time on the water. Have fun and be safe!!!

Trying Something New With The Time Off For The 4Th. Advice?
There is no reason to change any of your tactics, just your presentation, I will use darker colors, mostly all black, thats what seems to work well for me, I do however find that repeted casts are more common to areas to attract attention, the clearer the water is the less repeted casts I find are necessary. Night fishing is fun and relaxing but also can be dangerous, not sure if your shorebound or boating, regauardless take measures to be safe. Good luck and be safe and enjoy the upcoming holiday!!

Fishing In Creeks Or Rivers
Personally I like to cast upstream, I am usually getting some sort of bait down on the bottom, usually a jig, I like to bring it back scuffing the rocks on the way, especially if there is a fair amount of current, if there is little current and depth, top water flies or small crankbaits are my favorites.

Fishing Docks - Need Advice
Me personally, I like a drop shot in these cases, or a jig, or even a small spoon has worked, but the drop shot has yeilded the best results for those stubborn ones.

If you not breaking any laws then I would suggest lining the truck bed with some heavy plastic, filling the bed half full of water from the pond preferably, and loading all the fish at once and transporting to a new location, but if you can stick it out a little longer then I would wait as long as possible before you decide to transfer the fish. I hope you guy's and gals get the rains you so desperatly need. Good luck and be safe !!!
