Okay so here is the deal, I have never owned a baitcaster, I have done all of my fishing with a spinning rod and reel. I would like to start fishing with a bait caster and I have no idea where to start. I don't want to spend a lot to begin with maybe $150 total. I am looking for a rod and a reel, Any advice would be great. This is for a general use rod, not bait or technique specific, just something general to learn with. Thank you very much.

Wow! When I grew up playing it was one base on an over throw. this isn't the big leagues, Kids need to learn the game, not how to run up the score.

I think thats what I am going to do, I guess if I don't like it, I could always have another guest rod. Thanks for all of the help!

Has anybody used this the BPS Bionic Blade rods, They are on sale right now for $59. Is it worth it or should I just spend the extra $30 and get another carbonlite.

Thanks Fellas, These rods now have a home in my truck full time, they will also be my travel rods, i travel a lot for work and alway like to take a two piece rod with me just incase. They are replacing a couple of Ugly Stiks.

Shimano convergence rods are pretty decent, I picked 2 of them up for $39 apiece and on top of that they have a $10 dollar mail in rebate from shimano right now. So for $29 you can't beat the price and quality.

Shimano Sedona is not a bad reel, I believe you can find them on sale around that price.

Is your trailer aluminum?

I spoke with Reaction Innovations and the said that the "Swamp Donkey will be returning for 2012."

So I was in Sportman's Warehouse today and picked up a couple of Shimano Convergence rods. I was not in there to buy rods but ended up leaving with two of them paired with Shimano Symetre reels. Now I am wondering are these rods any good? They have pretty decent guides on them and seem like they will be okay. With a price of $39 apiece, I guess if I don't like them they will be good guest rods. Any thoughts? Opinions? Experiences? Thanks for the help!

I have been looking for a gas motor for my Lowe 1236 for a while now, with no luck. I finally saw the motor I wanted but it was attached to a boat. I emailed the guy and asked him if he would consider seperating the boat and the motor. He told me sure and "to make an offer"...I hate when people do this! what would be a fair price for a 1999 mercury 9.9hp? It is in really good shape he has of the service records.

I went largemouth bass fishing yesterday and I caught 5 decent fish, every fish I caught had another bass following it the whole way to the boat. I have not done a lot of fall fishing so is there something that I am missing. Why is this happening? Thank You Mark
