Can't Seem To Catch The Big One
I live in a neighborhood with a spring fed lake. The lake is 6 acres and about 12 years old. I fish every day, sometimes 2-3 times a day. The lake is stocked with bass, brem and cat fish. I can catch 1/2 lb to 2 lb bass all day and I usually put them back but the big ones elude me. I have caught one 6 lb'er last August. I've tried everything: top water, spinner, plastic, you name it. The only thing I can catch bass on in this lake is plastic worms, plastic crawfish or just about anything plastic. The lake is only 8-10' deep at its deepest point. I have a little jon boat and have fished all over the lake and on the bank. I know there are some nice ones in there I just can't find the key. Any suggestions?

Do Bass Prey On Each Other?
I'm sure this question has been asked many times. Do larger bass eat smaller bass? Will a 5 lb'er eat a 1 lb'er? I just wonder if all these smaller bass I see along the banks of the pond I fish are actually bait for larger bass.

Mature Pond
I am the only one fishing my pond of about 6 acres. The pond is spring fed and has been there for at least 10 years. I just started fishing it 2 yrs ago. I have caught one 6 lb'er and the rest are from 1-2 lbs. My question is: When a pond is hardly fished, do the 2 lb'ers grow into the big-uns or do the bigger fish kill off the smaller fish . I do know there are brem in the pond and a few catfish. Why after 2 years have I only been able to catch only one big bass?

Catch And Release? What Are Your Thoughts?
I fish a neighborhood pond of about 6 acres. Stocked with bass. My largest catch has been 6 lbs. As far as I know, I'm the only one that fishes the pond as the neighborhood is all retired folks that evidently don't fish. Here lately I've been taking out 1 1/2-2 lb-ers to eat because I was told that if the pond gets too many bass it is not good for the pond. Am I wrong? What would you do if you were me?

Worm Fishing... Getting Hung Up In Weeds
All great suggestions. Many thanks!

Worm Fishing... Getting Hung Up In Weeds
I tried using a Texas rig with the lightest bullet weight I could find. Same result. I changed to a small 1" headless nail inserted at the head of the worm to give it some weight.

Worm Fishing... Getting Hung Up In Weeds
I fish 90% with plastic worms with a few crawfish or frogs thrown in. My biggest problem is this: I cast and let the worm settle to the bottom. After about 10 sec I slowly retrieve, giving the worm a little jerk occassionally. After bringing the worm back 10 feet or so I start getting hung up on moss or what ever is growing on the bottom and I wind up reeling in a pile of undergrowth. This gets really frustrating. Is this just the nature of the beast, or is there something I can do to keep from dredging the bottom of the lake?

Ode To The Texas Rigged Worm
I fish 90% of the time with a plastic worm. Unfortunately, I've had little success with the Texas or Carolina rig. They always seem to get hung up in the undergrowth and I wind up pulling in a large mass of undergrowth on just about every cast. When I fish the worm with no weight, I can usually manage to pull the worm through the undergrowth with little collection of growth on the head of the worm. The downside is that I can't cast more than about 50' because the worm isn't heavy enough to carry out. I still love the worm.

How To Fisn A Small Lake
I live on a private lake in NE Florida, 6 acres, spring fed. I can walk out my back door and be bass fishing in 50'. I don't have a boat, so all my fishing is done from the bank. The lake is about 6 acres, deepest part is about 12-15'. The bottom is covered in moss and grass. I have been using mainly plastic worms and plastic salamanders. Not catching much anymore. This spring I could catch 1-1/2 to 2 lb. bass. I know there are some big ones in there over 6 lbs. Any suggestions on how to fish this lake under my circumstances?

Texas Or Carolina Rig Or No Weight
I've been worm fishing all spring using no weight at all in a spring fed pond with lots of undergrowth. I calculate the worm sinks about a foot / second. Just wondering why I would even need a weight on the line at all. Seems to me that when I do rig a light weight bullet weight as suggested in a Texas or Carolina rig, it just causes me to get more tangled up in the undergrowth. Any comments?

U.s. Made Spincast Reels
I like to fish with an ultralite Spincast reel for bass fishing in a small lake in our neighborhood. I have purchased 3 reels in the $25 -$40 range lately and all of them either hang up or don't work. I've noticed that Shakespere, Abu Garcia and Zebco are all made in China now. Are there any decent reels still made in the US anymore?

How Fast Do Bass Grow?
I live in a neighborhood with a 6 acre spring fed lake stocked with bass and catfish. I see a lot of fingerlings arund the banks. Assuming these are bass and that they have normal feeding supplies, how much will a bass be expected to grow in a year? If a bass is 1 lb now, now much will it grow by this time next year? Just curious.

Hook Killing Bass
I recently caught a 2-lb'er and was trying to get the hook out of its mouth when I noticed a rusty fish hook protruding from its rear end, eye first . I assume it had passed the hook through its body to that point. I used my pliers and worked it out and released it.

Hook Killing Bass
I've been fishing a pond loaded with smaller bass, 1-2 lbs. They take my worm or lizzard but invaribaly they swallow the hook. I struggle to get the hook out without killing the fish as I usually put them back into the pond. Any suggestions?
