  1. thank you, i will try to do some research as to where i can fish from shore / beach. I do not know the Cape Cod area.
  2. i tried 1 piece, for me in and out of truck , house etc... i broke the tips. I have no problems with my 2 piece rods.
  3. Black brokentail Jitterbugging last night the only big one. several others in the 2lb area
  4. ok, ideas of beaches to fish at. and what to fish with. i do have a surf casting rod but have never used it. 100 lb test
  5. Could anyone PM me a body of water or 2 that i could try. Not sure exactally where we are staying. Possibly Truro, possibly P-town. Going to to Cape Cod for a week with my wife mid Sept. How is the fresh water bass fishing out on the Cape area or is there any ? I am not looking for any insider info. just some basics. I will have my 33 lb canoe i can carry on my shoulder while we are there.
  6. I always ran my electronics off the same battery as the troller motor. when i go with no motor i use the small 12v battery seen in the pic. The electronics use so little juice it runs all day off the little battery. when i go to charge it , the electronic charger i use says somewhere about 85 % battery left even after 5 or 6 hours of use.
  7. Nice fish there Cam. Where are the pics of your Dads big fish ?
  8. Those are my current set ups, the green old town 12 ft pack ( weight is 33 lbs) The red 17 footer (weight is 95 lbs) I had this same set up on my 12 ft jon boat that i have since sold. I bought a much lighter and smaller 12 v battery to run my electronics Humminbird HD 598 down and side. i put the transponder on its own pivot so i can pop it on and off as well as up out of the way. I used wing nuts to hold it on. I made a similiar table on the jon boat. its all about convenience and comfort. I have since added a stab in anchor system. made from a ham radio antenna. works up to about 12 feet of water.

  10. bring 2 rods next time you go. take and put a big frog or i like the big live target field mouse on one and cast it as far as you can into the clear , not into the weeds. let it sit and just every minute or 2 give it a twitch, try to get it into the deeper middle part. twitch it around for 15 or 20 minutes, see if you get anything to hit it. then try it way back if you can walk there. I am thinking into the main part where the water flows or moves a little and where the water exits back into the brook. could also try a big bobber and a big nightcrawler ti see if you get anything.
  11. 2 piece rods for me. storage , in and out of truck. etc...
  12. yup , i paddled around and fished for about an hour, i found snakes , mice , birds , turtles, but no fish. I did not see any huge turtles but they are probably there. tons of weeds any small lilly pads. Most of it was less than 2 to 3 feet of water. There was some deeper. Ifi were to try to fish it again i would go try towards the back end at the outlet. I did not go all the way back. I am not saying there are no fish, i did not see any nor did i get any bites. It certainly looks like it should have some.
  13. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Horseshoe+Pond,+Concord,+NH+03301/@43.2208592,-71.5355153,16z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x89e26ae41800e923:0xfc1d6d5b5266345 you are not alone. Horseshoe in Concord is on the other side of the highway. accessible and fishable from shore. NHTI pond is all the way inside the campus. You have to park in the parking lot and walk to it. they want no cars except in the parking areas. The Merrimack is accessible as you enter NHTI campus. between 2 fields , plenty of parking right there, and some shore fishing. I drop the canoe and go straight accross. lots of easy water to fish.
  14. There is some bank fishing in the NHTI pond. Bring rubber boots for the mud. But i am talking about in the Merrimack. at the soccer fields there is a ramp into the Merrimack. from that ramp i head straight across into the back water area.
  15. i will probably be fishing the water across from the launch into the Merrimack as you enter NHTI school area. i like that area , i follow it way back, and fish all the spots of weeds and pads in the middle areas. I dont hit the banks a lot there. I find them typically a little deeper.
  16. viewable from the road? i will be there to try it tomorrow afternoon if i can. I have some deliveries in Concord tomorrow About 1/2 mile past school on the right. I will bring my canoe and my wheels.

  18. i found the school but i am not finding any water. This is Concord NH correct? I see some water behind 49 profile.
  19. i dont know this place. how big? i will have to google it and find it. Can i get a canoe to it?
  20. major difference in price. Thoughts ? will the basic do the same just with only 2 sounds and not expandable ? anyone with experience ? between the 2 ? same power ? http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/search.cmd?form_state=searchForm&N=0&fsch=true&Ntk=AllProducts&Ntt=hydrowave&x=10&y=6&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products
  21. the main pole is 8 ft , add the handle part adds 1 foot , i have an add in section that adds 4 ft. , less the height of the canoe. about 11 feet, i am actually going to take the 8 footer and cut it down to 6 and make another 6 footer, (storage in my truck) That will allow me to do about 15 feet of water. total weight is a lot less than the 12 lb anchor i was using, and i had a 2nd anchor that was 8 lbs to help stop me from spinning. so far it is working awesome. I worked on several designs and types of mounts to hold it. this one is by far the best. i used aluminum to keep weight to a minimum. My 10 ft canoe set up with this anchor stay pole , working deck and seat is still under 38 lbs.
  22. fished Horton pond in Mont Vernon yesterday for 5 hours. 6am to11am. Had a dozen total. all on rage bugs. nothing bigger than 2 1/2 lbs. all of them deep in the weeds. used my new anchor stay pole system i built from a ham radio antenna.
