Another Virginia Newbie
Welcome! Sounds like you got bass bit =) Digging deeply into the threads here you'll find all kinds of pointers, and don't forget the ones stickied at the top. Some of the best information can be found there. Not to mention youtube videos and google search. Sippi

Went out after work...left my mojo on the kitchen table
I hear ya, much the same thing this afternoon. Birds nests, Tree Bass, hot as all get out... Caught a Bluegill, though =/ At least the kids made out on turtles and bluegill. Not even a hint of bass for me though. whatever bites I had were too small to actually get hooked, lots of WIFF, miss. Sippi

VA Partner
Ooh Ooh (raises hand furiously). Pick me pick me! I grew up in the Vint Hill area, and used to walk down to Lake Brittle all the time. As of late I've not had a chance to take my new little boat up that way, but if you're planning on getting wet and need a hand loading/unloading/cleaning I'd be more than happy to tag along. Sippi

Lake Manassas
Heh heh, as I used to live right down the road from this lake, I just had to read through the thread. It's puzzled me for a long time as to why that particular lake has been "closed" for so long, although I am suspicious of the Golf Course involvement in the whole thing. I know that they do have some shore fishing in certain spots, cause there have been hosted "Youth Days" out there (maybe those were specially planned too), but to my knowledge not even the residents are allowed to do anything in it. It's even got it's own myspace: www.myspace.com/lakemanassas Sippi

Lake Pelham (Pelham Resevoir)
Anyone in my area fished this lake? It's RIGHT down from my house so I've developed a few little nooks and crannies, but it's fairly large and I'm curious to see if there are any other good spots. But w/out a fish finder (yet) and no information I can find posted online I'm hoping SOMEONE out there actually fishes it. Sippi

Bass-Jons of Richmond,VA
How far out would be considered TOO far for this bass club? I'm out of Culpeper which is like an hour or so North of Richmond, but I've not been able to find anything, as of yet, closer to home. Least not on the internet. Sippi

Trolling autopilot
I realize that the sheer cost of an "autopilot" trolling setup probably deters a lot of people. But does anyone have an autopilot type setup or use one? How do you like it/not like it? Sippi

Would like to hear everyones opinions on Shakespeare products
No, just got my first bit of "good" gear this last week. Up until this point it's mostly been off Shakespeare and Zebco cheapo's. The only thing I would say comes close is my little ugly stick which has worked great. Sippi

Would like to hear everyones opinions on Shakespeare products
I've had a lot of Shakespeare equipment over the years, and I gotta say I can't complain about them. The spinning reels and little push-button things I've had have caught a decent number and quality of fish (my profile pic included), and the Ugly Sticks have stood up to even my childrens' abuse. Granted I have to replace them out every 2 years or so, but it's cheap to do so. Why throw money in the trash while teaching the kids to take care of things before buying them the big money stuff? New Rod & Reel
Wow, perfect Russ thank you. I couldn't seem to find it that yesterday when I went through the website, but that will definitely help. And I goofed.. It's not a Revo S, it's a Revo SX http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3997876&cp=2367438.2367824.2291514.2291516. Either way I'm doing searching now on it before I start a new thread just to be sure I've covered all the bases. And yeah I'm a spinning reel user usually myself, but I thought I may as well start getting some practice on doing it all if I'm truly going to make the most of fishing =). Sippi

Little things about your bass boat
Battery charger "towing" hook up. Little adapter that goes along with what would be my trailer lights to pump a lil juice into the batter while the boat is in the truck to keep the battery topped of while I'm on my way to the lake. This actually came from funny stories of having it die on me while in the lake and having to flag down random people in hopes of a tow or a jump-start =). Sippi

New Rod & Reel
K, so I picked up a Revo S, and a Triumph pole 6'6" medium. So far so good. Problem is... There's no users manual for the reel, and it's got a few more "knobs" than I'm used to. What do all these adjustments do? Birdsnests are turning out to be rough on me with this thing, and I know I can adjust to help me get the technique down, but which adjustment does what? Sippi

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
Yeah, not without some kind of reinforcement. The "rails" just seem collapsible for anything trying to put any kind of strain on it like an oar would. And Pelicans website seems pretty devoid of any kind of accessories for it =/ Sippi

K, think I have enough posts now to get pics and such up. This is on of the other "decent" so far this season.

New Rod & Reel
Eh, was looking more below a $150 range, but I dunno if it's worth it I may go a little higher. I think I'll stick with baitcast, cause the spinning I've got isn't too bad (although I'm thinking I need a longer pole on it). Any suggestions on lengths? Sippi

New Rod & Reel
K, without breaking the bank I'm looking to upgrade from my "Wal-mart specials" to a "good" rod & reel. I know it's all subjective, but does anyone have any good suggestions for someone on a small budget for getting some spin-baits and crank-baits down range with some nice smooth actions? I think I currently have a bunch of short poles with little baitcasting reels right now. Shakespeare mostly. Sippi

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
Yeah, I was trying to figure out where you put the scrap paneling. For some reason mine doesn't have a lot of spots that I could think to bungee something down =/ Was thinking about putting some cleats on it, but the wife was throwing fits when I mentioned anything being screwed into the hull. Andy, I've found a bunch of little clamp things that I'm going to try out for rod holders and Fish finders, when they arrive I'll let you know how they work. And soon I may even be able to post pictures, lol. Sippi

Help settle a bet.
I suppose it's like IQ for bass. Just like there are smart people, there are dumb people. I wonder if any university has studied the varying ranges of IQ between fish. Sippi

My wife caught a PB
Sorry, very new... What's a PB? And GRATS!! love to see pics of a big fish and the smiles that come with it. Sippi

Help settle a bet.
Most of what I've been catching lately has been off a little rapala green and yellow crank-bait thingy (sorry really new to all this so I don't know how else to describe it). And every time my wife tries to tell me that it won't work ever again on that same fish. "Once they get hooked by it, they'll never bite on it again", she says. I dunno I'm just not buying it, I could swear I've caught the same fish on the same lure many times over in the past, but I was never sure. What's been ya'lls experience? Will a bass never bite on a lure that's it's been caught on before? Sippi

LOL, I wouldn't exactly call it a monster, but of course anything larger than the rest of the people fishing with you is something to brag about. Sippi

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
Do you run it on the Bow or the back? Found the bracket to mount it to the trolling motor. You strapped it to the wood like in the deck of the boat? Or to a chair? Sorry, just curious. Sippi

New From Virginia
K, got the location on the Avatar, didn't know if anyone was interested in exacting location in VA, lol. I've only really been fishing the reservoir near my House (pelham), but I'll probably hit up Mountain Run in the next few weeks in an ever expanding exploratory boat fest =) I got the booklet, and have spent the last 3 days getting all the various "Items" needed. Boat registration, county reservoir registration, life jackets, throw cushion, almost overwhelming. My profile pic is actually the Bass I caught this past weekend out of the boat I was very pleased with it. Dunno about keeping "keepers" yet. But I've been posting them on my facebook like crazy. I would post the other "biggun" I caught, but the site won't let me until 10 posts or something. Ah well. Sippi

New From Virginia
Hello all, just found the forums after getting a small boat and catching my usual summertime bass fishing fever. Mostly I've been fishing the small ponds and resevoirs near my house because they're easy to get to. Now, with the addition of my little tiny boat, I'm curious to get out a bit more to other places to check out. I've been fishing almost all my life, nothing profession or tournament, though. My earliest memories are of being like 6 or 7 and fishing for Perch and Trout in the mountains of Utah. Then as I grew up and moved around the Country the love of fishing never died. I think I gained the love of Bass fishing from ponds in Texas, and rivers in Nevada/Arizona. While not a professional, and even not very knowledgeable, I've had a blast fishing all my life. I'm curious to know more about lures and baits and techniques. Not sure if it'll change what I"ve been doing very much, but I'm curious =) Happy fishing! Sippi
