  1. <lol> I STILL have/use my Lightning rods!! I have some of the shorter <6' rods that work great when I fish from my belly-boat. I have some of the "originals" in 6'+ sizes too. For their price (and time) great rods. In fact, I recently bought some 7'+ L-rods of of eBay. But now they have the "newer-style" straight handles. Still think - again for the price - that they're a very good rod... especially for those fishing on a budget, like me. :
  2. I also Googled "restaurant supplies (your city)" and found a couple of local suppliers that way. Called "Sure we carry it!" Went there and found out that it was indeed "food grade silicone spray", but was NOT the CRC brand! So I went the the CRC web site and contacted their customer service... asking who in my area/city carried THEIR (CRC) product. They replied with a source withing 24 hours! So I'm anxious to try it out. Has anyone else used this product (CRC Food Grade Silicone) as a line conditioner? Is it as good as/better than KVD? If you HAVE used it, is it recommended to spray it on the night before (like KVD)? If you HAVE used it, does it have any tendency to accumulate or build-up on the lines/guides? Thanks!
  3. GAMMA makes a good co-polymer line. Carried by Cabela's...
  4. Thanks for the CRC Food Grade Silicone tip. Found it on Google... but seems to be only available via ordering online, and the shipping is a killer! Do you know of a store or other buy-locally source? Thanks!
  5. Have some and it "mends" great! BUT... in order for it to work, it actually dissolves a little of the plastic. If you spread/open the "wound" in order to get the Mend-IT in, it will actually widen/open/"tear" the wound bigger! Just BARELY open the wound enough to allow a little in. Good luck!
  6. x2... AND for most spoon-type lures too, i.e. Johnson Silver Minnows, etc. I use a Palomar knot most of the time, and HATE trying to get that 'loop' around all those treble hooks on crankbaits. I also have a phobia that my line will cut/snag on that little split area of the split-ring, so I use a snap (only) for that reason and for quicker lure changes. I snap to the split-ring if there is one... I direct-tie all my single-hook applications - i.e. plastics, worms, tubes, etc. Hope that helps!
  7. Hi all. From Omaha, NE. Been fishing nearly since a kid - about 55 years now, but was usually just on our one-week-a-year family vacation to northern MN. I've JUST started fishing local waters on a more-regular basis. LOVE fishing smaller waters/ponds out of my belly-boat!! Am an active member on the Nebraska Fish & Game Forum (NEFGA) and the "bigfishtackle" forums, and hope to become an active member here as well. Tight lines...!!!
  8. Hey Shoreangler! I'm from Omaha, NE too... and also just found this site. Maybe I'll see you around some time? Bob
