  1. Hello All, This is kind of late but it was my daughters B-day was last month and her Godfather bought her a Pfluegar Lady Trion Spinning Combo 6'6 at Bass Pro since she loves Bass Fishing so much. Spooled it up with 40 pound Power Pro and she was ready to fish. We were hitting it hard in July, just about every night we were fishing when I would get home from work hitting the local lakes, well she was wanted to stop using the little baits now that she had a rod that could handle something bigger and asked if she could start using the big worms I throw. Told her no problem, tied on a 5/0 Gamakatsu wide gap, rigged up an 11.5 inch worm and she was ready break in her new rig. Now this little lady has much more patients than her old man, her favorite way to fish a worm is with no weight, makes a long cast then just lets it sit there and sink to the bottom. Well this particular evening the bite was not as good as most the fish were just smacking my worm out of the water and not taking it in, my daughter had a few bites as well but no real takers then finally she caught this nice little guy. I tell you what no matter how many times I see her catch a fish, I get almost as excited as she does. Enjoy the picture and make sure you take a kid fishing.
  2. Sweet report guys and quality fish for sure, I sure do miss the lake can wait to get back up there
  3. Might want to change your tactics and fish the evenings instead of the morning's, did some bank fishing with my daughter yesterday evening and from 7-8 we caught three nice fish 2-3 pounds and I missed a hog 7+ around 7:45. We were using big worms, she was letting it sink and I was working the deep edge of the weeds on the surface. She was killing me and just about every cast she had a bite but she is still learning how to set the hook. I missed six but I think they were smaller fish. With the full moon the big girls have been feeding at night and are full by morning
  4. My favorite bait for catching Pea's is just a good Ole white bucktail jig saltwater grade of course, cut the hair right at the back of the hook and you are ready for action. No need to destroy costly lures when they will hit the jig just as good if not better and it is just deadly when they are spawning
  5. Cut the treble off and put a small offset J hook by using a split ring, they make a combo but if you are having trouble with the treble you want the hook exposed, this way you can add a small grub to the lure as well. One very important thing, with these type of lures most of the time the fish will chase the bait down before eating it, when you feel the fish on it is still swimming towards you most of the time, so if you are not great at setting the hook give it second or two until the fish changes direction and then nail it. Getting a good hook set in a fish that is swimming at you is one of the hardest things to do even for the experienced angler. Good Luck Dan
  6. The Lake, you know Shane I know a few a places there as well

  8. Went out this evening after work with my 9 year old daughter, and ran the banks of west Davie for about 20 minutes before dark. She was throwing a senko type bait, I was throwing a big worm swimming it across the surface through the pads and caught a 2 pounder on my fifth cast. You would think she would have caught the fish on the smaller bait but the little guy just crushed the big worm. I know this does not answer the question but there is not really a solid answer to it. You just have to keep the line wet and see what happens 8-)
  9. I agree a senko type bait black grape(AKA Junebug) with X-mass glitter 5-6 inches wacky rigged or Texas style with no weight. Toss it out there and just let it sink for a couple minutes, if you do not get a bite reel it up a little and do it again. My 9 year old daughter kills me at the lake in our development doing this; my water is somewhat clear with a green tint to it and 20 feet deep. Hope this helps, if there are fish around this will do it.
  10. Sorry Bro I can not steal them from Shane since I am the guy giving them to him ;D
  11. Man I wish I could have been there, I have not fished it in many years. Does anyone know if the hunting trial is still around or has it grown over
  12. Hey Everybody, My name is Dan been fishing since I could hold a rod so about 30+ years of fishing under my belt both fresh and saltwater my largest bass caught was around 14 pounds and my largest fish overall was a 364 pound Swordfish. Cap Shane is a friend of mine and recommended this site and from what I have seen so far it is loaded with great information 8-) Dan
