New to Fishing

Featured Replies

Hi my name is Gregg and I am new to this awesome sport. I have a question about fishing from shore as I do not have access to a boat. I fish mostly lakes around Columbia md and so far have not caught a thing. I have used worms, spinner baits and topwater. Can anyone give me some advise?

Welcome to B.R.

Welcome! My best advice - stop trying more baits... tie on a worm and follow the guide for worming. Don't change that bait till you catch one. A senko will do it if anything will!

First of all welcome!!!

2nd I would get a 3/8 oz football jig and dress it in either chartreuse or watermelon colors and add a black crawler to it, Throw it out let it sink to the bottom and wait for at least a minute and then move it slowly about a foot to a foot and a half wait another 30 seconds and repeat.

Good luck, be safe, and have fun fishing!!

Welcome to BR!

I agree a senko type bait black grape(AKA Junebug) with X-mass glitter 5-6 inches wacky rigged or Texas style with no weight. Toss it out there and just let it sink for a couple minutes, if you do not get a bite reel it up a little and do it again. My 9 year old daughter kills me at the lake in our development doing this; my water is somewhat clear with a green tint to it and 20 feet deep. Hope this helps, if there are fish around this will do it.
