Revo Big Shooter?
my mistake. I forgot the SBNation forums locked non-members out after a bunch of retarded ***kissing clowns that pride on calling themselves "rejects" tried to create a ruckus there a few months back. Anyway, here's the gist of the discussion. 1. could it be a souped-up Toro? (conjectures) 2. The gear ratio (7:1) is too fast for swimbaiting. 3. The reel was compared to the Shimano Tranx, which is a much heavier reel 4. It was wondered if standard Revo gears could be swapped in to get a slower reel.

Okuma Rod Question
X2 Okuma guide select big bait rods are great entry level swimbait rods. I won't hesitate to recommend them to anyone (for the money). Okuma EVX musky rods seem to have a good following among the guys who chase those fish. i have one of them too, Good rod. No idea about the bass rods. Oh yeah, 100% freshwater, 100% bass fisherman here

What Cheap Or No Name Lure Have You Had Success With?
A 1/8 oz rebel pop-r I rescued from the dollar bin in Walmarts. It isn't a no-name, but it certainly was cheap...

Rage Craw
As long as it matches the jig skirt, I'm good.

How Far Will You Go
I've swam out in icy cold water to rescue a lucky "lucky craft". If it wasn't lucky, I won't have bothered. Some baits just have the "it" factor and must be protected..

- How To Change Trebles Without Getting Hooked
If it's a tiny thin wire split-ring, like on the small baits (I'm guessing it's so), fingernails should work. Remember to keep pulling out the old hook, and pushing in the new treble at the same time, so that you don't have to open the split ring twice. In the long term, a simple pair of needlenose pliers would be much better. Doesn't the bait already have split rings? Take the old hook off, and put on the new ones. P.S. size 2 is a huge hook, no? I use #2 trebles on much, much bigger baits.- Owner Hooks

I read this on another forum but never tried it myself. Apparently you want to stick a pipe down the fishes throat, hold it up by the tail, and shake the hell out of it.- Brush Hawg

- Jigs - How, When, What Color, And Where To Fish Them
Everyone seems to have their favorite jig colors, just like other lures. I personally like the brown/ green/ pumpkin combo, with a touch of red or yellow. I remember Matt Allen saying in a video that you don't need a ton of jigs in the different shades of rainbow, but you do want to have a bunch of colors on the same jig. I like my Walmart Booyah jigs. They work just fine for me. I re-tie the skirt with braid though. I got some jigs that backwater4 made for me at a great price. I love them too. Not because of how long they last, but because of the custom color he did for me. I lose a jig before I catch a score of bass on it. So longevity of the skirt, weedguard, paint etc doesn't matter a lot to me. EDIT: I did have a jig that caught close to a 100 bass though. I have no idea how I managed to keep it that long. It was a lowly Booyah Boo jig- New Line
