  1. I'm thinking the fact that you changed to completely different style of bait probably had a lot to do with your success. I've seen times where what color flake the bait has makes all the difference in the world, but most of the time as long as you're fishing the right style of bait you'll get bit. Last Thursday was a prime example. We were on the right spot and the fish were biting, caught them on Okeechobee Craw, Junebug, and Green Pumpkin/blue flake. Color didn't make a difference, but it had to be a beaver style bait or the number of bites went way down.
  2. I got mine a Belgian waffle maker She loves Belgian waffles and was happy with it so that's all that matters right?
  3. We got our 10 fish limit Thursday with 3" Berkley Power minnows on 3/32oz jigheads tight lined next to standing timber in 7-10 feet of water. They were all 13+ inches.
  4. The smallest size Mad Man craw tube is about the best sight fishing bait I've ever used.
  5. Jerkbait and a swimbait are about the only baits I fish early in the year in pits. You can often catch lots of fish on a wacky rig but you'll go through tons of dinks to get one decent fish. If it gets real warm a buzzbait can be really good too.
  6. You're not planning on trying to find spawning fish this weekend are you? I think you'll be very disappointed if you are. With temps that warm they probably will move up shallower than they have been but I would guess the water will still be quite a bit too cold for them to spawn yet. The good news is, if they do move up to the shallows it will be to feed in preparation to spawn. I would start by fancasting a 1/2 craw colored rattle bait and retrieving as slowly as you can to keep it off the bottom or you can do the same thing with a 1/4oz single Colorado bladed spinnerbait. If that doesn't work and the weeds and junk on the bottom isn't bad you can always try dragging a dark colored jig slowly along the bottom. I would try to concentrate on the northeast portion of the pond because it will get the most sunlight and warm up the fastest. I wouldn't be scared to fish that shallow portion either. There may not be many up there but if they're in that portion they should be in a feeding mood.
  7. It was pretty consistent high 50's to 60 in the outlet, mostly 58-60. The spot we were really catching them it was 51-52. There was one other boat fishing the outlet and one fishing the trees on the north end for crappie, never saw either of them catch a thing.
  8. Well Wolf Creek was kind of awesome yesterday. Weather was nice and to say they were biting would be a serious understatement. We caught over 100 for sure, probably had over 100 just with largemouth. We found one school and caught them as fast as we could be a bait in the water for about an hour and half to 2 hours. Our home made Wobbler bladed jigs and Rock N' Roller bladed jigs and anything on my Rocker jighead was getting bit. Caught more 3 pounders than a person should be allowed to with the big fish of the day at 4lbs 3ozs. Also caught a couple smallmouths, a limit of crappie, a few whites, a wiper, a catfish, and of course a drum.
  9. It might be faster for me to list the lakes in Kansas I haven't fished?
  10. I use the weedless casting jig from Do-It for my A rig heads. I just pour them without the weedguard pins.
  11. Looks like a Hammerin Hare jig. They were a pretty good swim jig but the hooks rusted fast because the hair held so much water.
  12. Fingernails man, fingernails. That's the only way I can get split rings on tiny trout and crappie cranks open without ruining the the split ring. All you have to do is get them started, then use forceps to remove them. Sometimes you can get them open with just the forceps also.
  13. Fishing a jig, shakyhead, or suspending jerkbait. If one of those baits are working then I'm happy.
  14. Probably kill them when there's big cicada hatches going on. I don't see that tail lasting more than a fish or two though.
  15. Brent Chapman Jason Christie E squared Denny Brauer Alton Jones Steve Kennedy Marty "The Party" Robinson, guy had me rolling at the Classic with this little bit. Guy was just having a good time out there.
  16. Tying a lot of jigs, doing boat maint, cleaning reels, fishing the power plant lakes when it's not 5 degrees on my days off, which has only been once so far this year but going to change that tomorrow!
  17. Had a great day of fishing last fall, mostly with a black and blue chatterbait. It was November 15th and all the leaves and lily pads were dead, water temps couldn't have been above 50. The biggest key was to crank as slow as I could while keeping the blade vibrating. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/127397-cold-water-pond-bassing/
  18. Never caught one but I can only imagine how fast they must be able to burn off some line. I bet your son will remember that fish for the rest of his life!
  19. Nice fish and a great start to the year!
  20. I put my fishing pictures on FB for my fishing buddies and family to see, that's it for me.
  21. I've always referred to floating Rapalas/Rebels/Rogues as minnow baits. Suspending baits are what I refer to as jerkbaits.
  22. That one had landed 21 largemouth, 6 white bass, a few crappie, and a 3lb channel catfish that morning and was still going strong (minus an eye).
  23. Fish calculator puts it at 15 pounds even then.
