Fish with kid Groups?
I do a tournament every year that is a Pro/Teen event. Pro's or Boaters volunteer for the day and take a kid fishing. It is a tournament, but its about the kids and there is no money involved. Just fun for kids, and us adults too.

A couple drop shot questions..
There is no easy answer to your question. I drop shot with 25lb test, superline hook6s, and 3/4 oz weights. At other times Im fishing 6lb #2 drop shot hook, and a 3/16oz weight. I use fluoro for both. My favorites baits are Zipper Worms hand pours in various colors and size. If bigger fish are present then Ill go with a 6 in straight tail worm, sweet beavers, brush hogs. Use the proper hook for the bait. Line size depends on where Im fishing it. Punching the weeds and matts or fishing a point in a deep clear lake. Smaller worms and drop shot baits Ill nose hook with the smaller hooks. Now 8lb test is pretty darn strong and Ill use it alot, cover or not. Working the bait is dictated by the fish. Sometimes you can cast it to the weeds and work it out with a pause, slide cadence. Other times you will want to shake it in place, and yet others you need to just dead stick it. It works great all year long. Spawning bass cant handle a drop shot. Drop shotting around bait can also be deadly. Best I can say is never stop experimenting with it. Its such a great technique, there is always more to learn.

BASSclary's Seaguar InvizX review.
Dont blame ya, I got 3 shops within 15 minutes drive. For some reason I still buy most of my stuff on line or direct from sponsors. Leaves more time for family, which in turn leaves other time for fishing.

BASSclary's Seaguar InvizX review.
Seems I can only find 250 yd spools of fluoro then And even when I find a 200 it seems there is extra line for some reason. Who knows. Hmmm, when I used 100% and big game I get horrible memory, backlashed alot, and found it unmanageable. And to test the crankbait situation, the water was clear enough to see what depth your crank was at (having bright Yellow/Chartreuse helped too ), and I could feel the bottom in some part where as normally I would not. I personally dont know how it's cured from brand to brand, I only know however it can and does change depending on your line form personal experience. And about the coloring, I think we get an algae bloom here in VA, but im not sure. All I know is that with about 75% of lines I've tried it stains pretty bad, and like you said, takes a few trips to get it out. However it just washed off InvizX. Interesting, perhaps they sell different amounts based on region. I began buyin 2000 yard spools because its cheaper in the long run. Was getting a collection of partial filler spools around here. > Ive experienced the memory and a tad bit of over run on 20 and 25lb lines, I think because it is thicker, it just doesnt lay as well. I know the 100% is a bit thicker then some others, but I really like the strength and toughness of it. Good job once again, thanks for the response.

BASSclary's Seaguar InvizX review.
Ive heard good things about this line. However Im confused about the 200yards. Seems that most filler spools of fluoro come with 200 yards. So this is really nothing special. Second I use 100% fluoro by Trilene, and also use alot of Big Game. Both in the 15lb size have little to no memory. I also have never experienced these lumps you mentioned so I assume thats just some thing that happens with some other brand(Big Game is low cost but not a cheap line). I dont dispute the crank bait running deeper, but I would like to know how you tested that? Personally I use fluoro for 2 reasons, first is it sinks extremely well so therefore is is more sensitive sense you dont have a big bow in the line. The other time is when I need heavy line in clear water. Castability is nice, and avoiding the over run is a bonus. But how does a line cure that?(usually casting error or wind) Not pickin on ya and you did write a good review. Just wanna point out to have some substance to back up the claims. Alot of under water testing is done in a pool where ya can actually compare back to back, and see whats happening. Just a side note about line coloring. Here in California at Clear lake, they get a nasty algae bloom in the summer. Sometimes its so bad it stains everything green. Doesnt matter what brand the line is, it all stains. I say stains cause it takes a few trips elsewhere before it is clean again, even after spraying it off with a hose.(stains the reels too)

G.LOOMIS ? Need Help
Ummm, that is a change. From $50 to $100 and only once. After shattering 3 rods in 3 days all of em 904IMX flippin sticks all on hook sets I was done. During a tournament(pro/am) you dont have time to send your rods in for warranty evaluation. its a change to their expeditor service but not the warranty. i used to think of the service as more of an insurance than a warranty against defects... strange, the Black Friday coupon says it excludes GLoomis but when i put a rod in the cart, it applied the discount... http://www.***.com/?coup=TURKEY20 expires 11/30 5pm PDT Thats because its a price controlled item, as are alot of Shimano products. Meaning they are not supposed to advertise prices lower then a set amount.

Wow. New low in customer service.
It has to work, before they will take it. Just was sharing what I thought was funny. Like SeanW said, "Outrageous..." Oh well. Spend my money elsewhere. and where you spend is the best way to deal with it. Lifetime customers are golden, yet some company's just dont get it.

flippin rod
I'm going to recommend the Dobyns Champion 765 FLIP or the 766 Flip ... now before you say it's too expensive (retail for $240), here's a little deal for you. Right now at The Hook Up Tackle, they're offering 20% off with the coupon code "blacknovember". But 20% off is not getting you down to $150. However, go buy a gift card (probably one for $100 and another for $50) ... They will give you the 20% off the card. Then immediately use the GC for the rod; yes, they allow that. Now you can get an additional 20% off the rod. So ... basically about 40% off the rod if you do this. That will get you to your $150 mark!! ;D Better yet, call them and work this through on the phone. They're great people and will help you out!! BTW, I'm not related to those folks. Just a customer! It was worth trying, but it doesnt seem to be working. I did a $500 card and it showed $400 for the price, I paid and then nothing. No confirmation email, no receipt, no charge to my card. All I got was a blank screen that said "done". Ideas?? Gotta say the guys there are great, and they did give me the discount on both the gift card and my order. They now have my business.

Reaction Innovations - What's Up with Them?
The reason is that its not always easy to get more stock. So if you can find a deal eat it up. Im gonna spend about $600 on some I found at a much lower price.

Favorite color frog
For years all I used was white or black, and depending on where Im fishing I may use them on occasion. Im mush more into natural colors now, and 90% of the time Im throwing brown or green. One reason for this is I believe the fish see to much of the white frog around here. I also dont believe the fish thinks its a frog, so its really just a top water bait. So as mentioned keep it simple. If I do use white I color up the bottom with black dots, and a tad of red on the throat. For the brown and the green I just throw em. Lastly Im not a big fan of the Snag Proof as most of mine tend to perfectly sink. >

New and in California
HI everyone, Been fishing for 40 years. I do bass most of the time these days. I have a 2007 Basscat with a Mercury motor. I live in San Jose and the closest big water is the California Delta. I enjoy sharing my experience and working with sponsors. I love fishing tournaments and meeting new fishing buddies. I fish year round and really love winter fishing because the lakes are free of skiers and such.

Wow. New low in customer service.
Outrageous that a repair would cost more then the entire combo. That said its also why I prefer to buy the best reel I can within reason. I grew up fishing those Mitchell Garcia spinning reels and they are not costly. They have always been very dependable for me. I know they cost more then the entire setup, but they last. Im assuming they have no warranty on what ya bought. Then again this is why I prefer Pure Fishing products, they stand behind their stuff.

G.LOOMIS ? Need Help
I used to fish nothing but GLoomis rods, and the 844 was my go to rod of choice. That said I no longer fish Loomis rods. They used to be ahead of others, but thats not the case anymore. Warranty changes, and lower prices on equal or nicer rods I decided to move on. There are many brands out there to choose from. However if you want Loomis I always loved the 844GLX and IMX. While the GL2 and 3 are ery durable rods they are not in the same class as the pricier sisters. With the 844 IMX/GLX you can fish just about anything with it(jigs, texas rigs, buzz baits, spinnerbaits, top water, crank baits, hollow bodies)

Dobyns vs Powell
I didnt miss quote you, you wrote it. It says just above. Im not arguing anyway. However you are stating your opinion, and I respect that. I punch alot to, I live very close to you. I have no problem punching all day. I also use an Irod in certain applications because it is better suited for certain circumstances. Its a heavy rod, but it serves the purpose well. I also have a Lamiglas 806 certified pro, your right tip heavy. However it is one of the best rods Ive fished for big top water wake baits and swim baits, hence I keep it. See ya on the river. That lamiglass is a beast of a rod, my tournament partner flips with it, amazes me. We'll just have to agree to disagree and leave it at that. I never intentionally meant to tell you or anyone else that they must use a specific rod, I apologize to anyone that took it that way.

Dobyns vs Powell
Having said that, you're more than welcome to fish a heavier, less comfortable rod if that's what makes you happy. When you fish 10 hour days, a few days a week, any advantage enabling you to fish longer and more effortlessly is well worth it in my books.

Dobyns vs Powell
The point about your age is simply that you have not been fishing as long as some. Rods have changed alot over the years. Sorry about your back/shoulder issues. Im in the same boat. I have a bulging disc in my neck that makes my right arm go numb down to my hand, and a lower back condition as well. Been with the chiropractor for 21 years now. Check out Troy Linders Fit4Fishing, he has some great exercises to help us fisherman. Second you insist on telling me that my rods are uncomfortable and heavy. I can decide for myself, and I happen to find very pleasing. Outlandish is about suggesting that one could not fish all day if they did not have a Dobyns rod. Lastly, now go out and fish and enjoy your rods.

Dobyns vs Powell
What happens when you put a half ounce bait on the end of your balanced rod? Same thing that happens when you are reeling in a crank bait? It pulls the tip doesnt it? I have a Powell 702 and a Dobyns 702. With the same reels on them they balance at the same point. I do use what I want. I dont get wrapped up in hype, I fish what I like. When you talk about balance we are talking about an ounce or two, and obviously longer rods are gonna be a bit more, its called leverage. I am not suggesting you not use a Dobyns rod, merely suggesting when you give advice to someone, sayin things like it is all I can fish is just wrong. If there was no Dobyns what would you do? What did ya do just a few years back? I fished GLoomis GLX's. Now I prefer Powells, Dobyns, Veritas, and Irods over those expensive GLX's. To think that everybody has a budget for a $150 rod is wrong folks. I know David is sponsored by Dobyns, so he gets a discount. The real trick to feeling those light bites is being in touch(study and concentrate) with your bait, know how it feels so you can sense when it feels different. Not sayin Id wanna drop shot an Ugly Stick, but a decent rod like a Verdict or Veritas gives this ability. Although I have a friend that is really cheap and he kick butt with Ugly Stiks.

Dobyns vs Powell
Well this in itself is a very personal statement regarding balance. I personally CANNOT fish with a rod that's overly tip heavy. I have personally told Keith at Powell this. Personally, for me, it's a comfort thing. If you're 20 something, then it's not an issue. If you're 50-60 years old like some of us are, the arm muscles are a bit old and tired to begin with, balance can make or break a fishing day. The second part of your statement is what I have stated. If you're younger, no issues. Those young studs on the BASS tour can beat you with a broomstick ... been there done that; getting beat that is. LOL! You guys amaze me, now Ive heard it all. How did you guys ever fish prior to the Dobyns rod? I fish with a 70 year old retired Navy guy that smokes like a choo choo train. He cant stand and fish for a day, yet he has no problem fishing any kind of rod. Between you and David and your outlandish claims Im roflmao. Its no wonder more people fish now. It must be the great balance in the Dobyns rods. Not sayin Dobyns rods are not good, they are great rods. However both of you claims are hog wash. Someone asks for advice and you post a bunch of crap. If you can hold a Powell rod and fish for the day then there is another issue.. Im sure a Steez or new Loomis NRX would be even better. Its a fricking fishing rod. I know David is too young to know, but your claims are outlandish at best. My guess is you would catch just as many fish with a Berkley Lightening rod. Its just a tool, wake up!

Braid or Floro?
Both are a must have. For all the naysayers just check out the BASS event from 2010 on the Delta(event 1). There is a need for both and I can tell you from fishing the delta myself that it is tough stuff.I punch with 25lb 100% fluoro all the time on the Delta.

Technique specific
Thats a very sensible choice and I think you will be very happy with it. Im also adding some Veritas rods to my already over stocked arsenal. You can usually find the STX on sale at one place or another. If your able to use lefty's Tackle Warehouse has some on clearance. If you dont use leftys Id recommend learning. I use both and use em (r/l) depending on technique. All of my reaction bait fishing is done with lefty's, all others with righty's. Im right handed for reference.
