  1. If it was me and I wasnt taking my own boat, it would be Mexico. If ya really wanna have a good time catching alot of big fish Mexico is perfect. Other wise those Peacocks have been calling me for years.
  2. Personally I switched to Spider Wire. I had some break off issues with 65lb Power Pro. Also, beyond popular belief braid is not indestructible and it does need to be changed. It is also a terrible choice in rocks, as the rock tear up the line. The main reason I switched is Spider Wire is smoother and doesnt tear up my fingers like the coarse Power Pro.
  3. With out a doubt it would be Berkley Big Game. It is the best all around line made, period.
  4. Some guys feel a need for a special reel. Im the opposite, but then again I use a Abu Garcia Revo so Im way ahead of the game. Its 22lb drag system is more then enough and I can hold plenty of 25lb fluorocarbon. Ive caught hundreds of swim bait fish on this reel, and its also what Byron Velvick uses. I just use a standard Revo STX and slow the reel speed. The only reason you would need a different reel is if your trolling a couple hundred yards behind the boat instead of casting. To be honest 20lb Big Game is more then enough line for almost any swimbait. A Curado does not have a stong enough drag in my opinion.
  5. I recently bought a HUmmingbird 798SI for under $700 but that deal sold out in about 2 days from the Bargain Cave. I really wanted a bigger screen but at half the price of the 898 it was a good buy for me at this time. It will also fit into my console. I will get a bigger one later when Im working again.
  6. My name is Sean and Im a tackle sleeper! 8-) Sleeper was not my choice of words. :
  7. Im not much for braid on spinning gear. All my spinning reels are spooled with 6 lb or 8lb 100% fluorocarbon. The only time I may add braid is in the spring time. Ive done this several times but find Id rather fish the baitcaster. I only use it for throwing trick worms a long ways in spring. I really believe I get more bites on fluorocarbon. I will also keep a couple of 40 series spinning reels on hand just in case I wanna throw heavier line on a spinning reel, which is rare, when I can just use a bait caster
  8. Up until a couple of years ago thats all I ever used. I will usually shake the slack in the line when fishing a worm. Its a great technique and for some reason they just load the rod while your shakin it(rather then coming at ya).
  9. Falcon Lake for pure big fish. Trophy fish on the other hand Lake Fork or there is a lot of choices in California. Febuary is a great time for trophy fishing, its also swim bait time here. I know Florida has big fish, but I guess it depends on what one considers trophy sized.

  13. I know Vanish gets a bad name for some reason. However I found it to be very good line. It doesnt have the best shock absorbency but I use it for drop shotting so it serves well. I only use Trilene and Spiderwire line these days, but Ive never fished sensation. My partner seems to love the trans optic line. I use either Big Game, or 100% fluorocarbon.
  14. Only on some, meaning my punch rods and frog rods(sometimes for spooks). Everything else id fluorocarbon or mono. I prefer to use a line that is less visible and a better sink rate.
  15. Whatever you don't use, let me know, my mortage is due. ;D Just kidding, good luck with the new gear! Actually I went through alot of stuff and made a goody bag for a friend. If I dont use it within 2 years its time for it to go.
  16. Im all Abu Garcia, been off the Shimano bandwagon for a couple years.
  17. For bass fishing it would be a Big O crank bait. For all fishing it would be a panther martin spinner in bumble bee.
  18. Hook size in my mind is what I can get away with. Ive been known to use 11/0 hooks at times. However most of this style bait I use the Owner Beast hooks. As big as I can go and not hurt the action. I think I usually start with a 6/0.
  19. Zipper has a worm that is purple with a white vein, check it out. They will also pour for you in any color you want. There is no limit you need to order. PM me Ill give you a 20% off code. For me there is not much I cant get. Personally I think there are too many colors made as it is. There was some top water stuff, but now Paycheck baits has some stuff that made me forget about the other stuff. I guess Id have to say the original HUddleston. Like before they were popular. I still have about 10 of em from the original days, and I think they are better, and so does my bite ratio. Getting bigger is not always a good thing. That 20% discount is good for any order through Zipper, so check out the site and if you want to order some things just PM me for the code.
  20. Great choice. I wear mine all the time in the winter, and most of the time the rest of the year. It did inflate on me once, as I was running to my starting spot in the morning. I suggest replacing the bisquit thing every year. Also keep a spare and spare cylinder in a tuperware in the boat.
  21. Yep, but sometimes a standard bullet in front of an EWG is the ticket.
  22. Personally I dont use anything special. I actually use a Zip Lok bag and sort by color. I have several of the gallon Zip Locs in the boat at all times. There is about 20 SB in each one. They really dont tangle much, spinnerbaits are easy to seperate and I find it faster to get em out this way.
  23. Yep its been a good week for the brown Santa at my house. First a $600 box of goodies from The Hook Up tackle(40% off). Then a box from Zipper Worm, and California Swim Baits, and today a new Hummingbird 798SI. Think Im gonna need to go fishing.
  24. They are pretty popular around here. My partner throws em quite a bit.
  25. Be very well versed in drop shotting and carolina rigging. Its tough fishing behind these guys. A rip bait can also be a good bait from the back. Not saying other methods wont be important, but those a good from the back.
