  1. I have actually done just that.
  2. No that is not the only difference, as mentioned earlier in the thread. I personally have 3 lines of Revo's, the S, STX, and the Premier. All are great reels, the Premier is by far the lightest of the bunch. The SX is so close in price to the STX that I just moved up to the STX as it allows more adjustment.
  3. Ive used the Big 3 as far as baitcasters and I choose Revo. I fished Shimano for years, but the bottom line is I like the Revo way more. Its been very durable, great drag and castability, fits my hand very well. Ive broke several Curados, to this point no Revos have had any problem at all.
  4. I kinda go back and forth on this topic. I typically like the longer rods. Like David I was throwing 7'3 to 8ft this past year. Ive kinda shortened it up just a tad this off season, with the exception of punch rods. Bottom line is the shorter rod is a tad lighter. In dealing with my injuries Ive adapted my hookset and casting techniques. For some reason that has lead to shorter rods, but not much. Back to using 7' casting rods, and 6'9 spinning rods, so 3 inch's shorter. That said Ill still have plenty of use for those longer rods when casting distance is important.
  5. Revo S and Veritas Soron and Veritas The reels can be found for $99 so thats my pick. The Veritas is amazingly light and sensitive.
  6. I use a Powell cranking rod and I love it. I prefer a softer crank stik then most on this forum I think. I throw 20ft divers on a 3 power and maybe a 4 power. I like a softer rod, some like more. Its all personal preference. That said I know alot of folks in my area that love the Dobyns 805 and others the Powell 806. I also prefer glass.
  7. In my opinion braid is a no no on swim baits. I use 15-25lb Big Game on all my swimbaits. The 844 is fine for that size, although I prefer much longer rods for swimbait fishing. The idea is to have some give in the line and rod so the fish can inhale it. Once that happens alot of line movement, so a longer rod helps there. I find a longer rod also help in getting those bigger fish to the boat.
  8. Not sure why this was moved as its about scouting lakes in general. That said I find it best to idle around in likely areas, look for structure, bottom changes, grass, bait, isolated rocks, anything different. If its a current lake, keep that in mind when looking. This time of year on our deeper clear canyon lakes Im all over creek channels and drops. Scouting is also a good justification for a Side Imaging Unit. Sure makes it alot faster, and you'd be surprised how much stuff is actually out there that we flat out miss with standard graphs. Good luck

  11. There is a possibility we may see an increased line up at some point. It really depends on demand. If the market demands it, they will come. So ask your retailer for those things you'd like to see.
  12. great idea. i hear those bps sticks are excellent for the price. make sure you handle a glass rod before you buy it (if youve never fished one). some people love them but the one i tried seemed a bit too heavy for a weight weenie like me. Very true about the older glass rods. The newer stuff is amazing when compared. I think its Lamiglas that makes a orangish crankin rod thats glass. Its pretty darn light and goes for about $80.
  13. I own a pair of both brands. I was really un happy with the Oakleys. That said the tint is really gonna depend on the lighting outside at the time. I purchased a pair of Costa's for my all around glass's. I but the Eye Surrenders(better then Oakley IMHO), is several colors for sight fishing and low light conditions. There can be claims for Amber, Smoke and blue mirror. Id suggest getting another tint that you dont already have.
  14. Better yet just buy em as is, then donate the hooks to a young kid that needs em.
  15. I believe they are made in the USA, I know they are a US company. Out of the glass's Ive owned, they are the best sub $100 glass's Ive worn. They are very comfortable, light, and a great warranty. I am buying another pair this year, but another color. Different colors make a difference under different conditions so Id like to have another pair. I have the amber lens and they are always my first choice.
  16. Almost forgot, I have a pair of Oakley fishing glass's as well. They are by far the biggest piece of junk I have. Nasty glare, and the lenses get very bad water spotting. No they were not cheap. >
  17. Well it happens for several reasons. One I love sunglass's, second I just dont lose em. Typically buy 2 pairs a year, so it add's up Not sure why I felt a need for the Costa's, but I had a gift cert so I got em for little out of pocket money. The eye surrenders are very close, and you can get every color for the price of the Costa's. Ill be buying another pair this year.
  18. There are several factors that cause chine walk. My Bass Cat will start to walk at about 67mph, but its very easy to drive thru. Its usually happening on most boats when it reach's the minimum amount of pad on the water. Meaning you are usually close to the speed the hull was designed to go. There are adjustments that can be made to change it(motor lower on transom).
  19. Eye Surrenders are good in expensive sunglass's. I have a pair of those and the Costa Del Mars. I usually swap between these 2 pairs. I actually have about 20 pairs of fishing glass's. Solar Bats, Cocoons, Ocean Waves, and many more I dont remember the name of.
  20. It is a good rod. Its just heavier then the others.
  21. What would you like to know? It is a part of the line of the ABu Garcia "V" rods. Vengenace- is the entry model Vendetta- is a great rod Veritas- lighter Verdict- lighter yet and more sensitive All of the rods are great rods with in their price range. I have not fished the Vengeance, but have fished the Vendeta and the Veritas. The Veritas is lighter then rods twice its price. If thats your price give it a try, if you can afford any of the others try them.
  22. Pure fishing company's customer service is by far one of the best around.
  23. 1) inline jig 2)straight tail work 3)swim baits/frogs
  24. I own a bass cat. Ive owned many boat, both new and used. I will never buy new again unless its on a Pro Staff deal. Its really a waste of good money. You can get alot more boat in the used market. You can easily get a Cougar in the 30k range just a few years old. Legend is also a great boat, Ranger, Skeeter. You will find better buys on a Legend or Skeeter, at least around my area. One you didnt mention that is a great boat is a Champion. You can save some money and still be able to up grade some things if you want. The other option is to buy a prize boat certificate at a discount. There are plany of legend certificates around. Then you still get the boat as you want it and its brand new, but ya save some money. By the way, the Bass Cat is an awesome boat and will be my first choice when I get my next boat.
  25. I think your on the right track. Here in California Id also want a spinning rod.
