  1. It airs this morning after Aarons Outdoors. 10am on the west coat.
  2. Thats right, the crankbait king likes a low speed reel for deep cranking! I had always read articles about Fritts a long time ago using slow speed reels but being young and dumb, I didnt buy into it. Then I got schooled by an old timer in my club way back when, so I switched to see what the fuss was all about. I never switched back to the faster reel and thats been 20 years ago. 4.7:1 all day long. It comes down to personal preference. I have a tendency to throw deep cranks 80% of the time during the summer. There's no way I could do that with a 6+ reel. If I just threw deep cranks here and there it wouldnt be such a big deal. To be honest, if I did a bit more deep cranking I would get one. Ah man, now the idea is burning a hole in kmy pocket.
  3. You do realize that some people just have a hard time with bait casters dont you? I mean they really just never get good with them. My son bought one of those anti back lash reels(backlash proof) and he would get a real mess in that thing no problem. Others pick it up real quick. I like the dual braking system. I dont use the mechanical at all, but for some they can set those, then fine tune without having to open the reel. Casting into a strong wind versus casting with it. Throwing a light rip bait compared to a DD22. So while you dont feel a need for it others do.
  4. I have not owned one of those. But if its anything like the old Team Diawa rods I dont think you have anything to worry about.
  5. Dont worry, it will be fine for senkos.
  6. Trying to determine "best" is impossible. It really come down to preference. Personally I use a 6.1to 1. Others prefer 5.1 and yet other a 4.7. I find is very easy to slow down with the reel handle. Its tougher to speed up you cadence when ya have a low speed reel. But ya know David Fritts prefers a low speed reel.
  7. Guess I should add that several rods Ive owned explode at that point. I no longer use those rods(loomis). I warrantied em and sold em. Never had to warranty a Powell, nor a Pure Fishing product(that wasnt my fault, rod locker door). Lamiglas exploded and they would not cover it, so I bought no more. Im funny that way. What brand rod is it?
  8. Perhaps others are different then me, but I love a good warranty, and therefore I use my equipment accordingly. Not with reckless abandon, but Im not fragile either. If it breaks warranty it, until then catch as many fish as you can.
  9. looks like a d**n good bag to me. Ill have to check the brand of mine since Ive had it for over 10 years. Its still flawless.
  10. green pumpkin or green pumpkin red
  11. Ill suggest you work on feeling the bait. You really dont need a special, or expensive rod. Just like with a drop shot, or worm fishing, or dart heading. It is really most important to be "in touch" with your bait. Concentrate, and develop a feel, when it feels different, set. That is feeling the bite. The elite guys, thats what makes em elite. They always preach it and tell us, but most folks dont understand it. Learn what it feels like when ya bump a rock, grass, or wood, soon you will be catching more fish.
  12. You and me both. Im trying to hold off on my order until after the 10th of the year. Im ordering 12 Verdicts.
  13. Very nice. Now go out and catch a PB so you can get another one. ;D
  14. Well then, if ya want one go for it.
  15. Nice! Thats a great deal. Both are great rods. I find the 7'3 to be kind of a one rod does all if you had to. Its gonna be my jig rod, buzz baits, frog rod, spinner baits, spooks, senko. I could go on, guess its easier to say I think its the best in the line up. I should add that Ive been pairing my Veritas rods with Premier reels, and man they are featherweight.
  16. I was under the impression that forums were to share and learn from. Im shocked that this site is so tunneled if you will. Meaning they only allow you to share whats here. Posting a link to some good imformation if it is elsewhere(a blog) is not allowed. Even through a PM???? I don't understand? Bass Resource? There are alot of resources. If ya wanna grow allow members to share and use all of em. It brings more content to the site. It brings credibility to the site. Its will bring more users to the site. Am I the only one frustrated by being caged?
  17. I bought a $40 BPS bait caster a few years back. It still works just fine. I gave it to a friend that fish's 3 days a week. BPS is a good company, its not my preferred place, but they are a good store. I buy gear from them, rain gear, boots, that kinda thing. THeir points program is a joke as far as Im concerned, as they expire way to fast. They also rip ya off on shipping. That said I dont order from them. If I need something Ill drive to the store 90 minutes away. That said I can get just about anything I need locally and at better prices. I do know they supply a large percentage of recreational fisherman with their products.Heck, I had rods and reels when I first got into fishing. I love the catalog when on the throne. I can browse through and see if there is any new things Im interested in.
  18. I added a SI unit to my boat. Other then that I will focus on perfecting technique and presentation.

  21. I have not fished the 5in size. I do have 40 bags of the 6 inch. What I can tell you is they are the same diam. of the 5in senko. So its slimmer then the 6 in senko. At times it works great. Slower fall.
  22. You are correct. I agree, well sorta. The thing is Im a member on about 5 different fishing sites, and this is the only one that the Rage Baits are mentioned all the time. Same goes for several other baits on this site, all are sponsors here. Thats fine, but to me it turns me off to have something shoved down my throat. Now to be honest I have a few Rage tail products, and Ill continue to try em out. However to date they have not caught one fish for me. The chigger craw and Paca craw do. The Zoom Horny Toad has out fished the Rage Toad. I still think there will be a time or day it will work, just have not found that day yet. In all fairness I have not fished it a lot, but enough.
  23. I have a buddy that owns one, he really like it. Im not into 8ft rods for crankin so I never got one. I would personally lean towards the 753 if you want a Powell. I have the 703 glass cranking rod and I love it. It is good for so many things, jerk baits, cranks and spinner baits. I do throw deep divers with it, but think Id prefer the extra length.
  24. Sorry, didnt read your entire response, just saw those listed. It happens when Im watching a movie and reading.
