  1. Tritons are known as requiring more actual driving then alot of other boats. They are good boat, I doubt you will ever see close to 80mph. Most 20ft boats are gonna have ample storage. Dry ride is gonna depend on the driver, and his abilities to handle a boat in rough water. If you have never handled chine wallking then you dont know how to "drive" a boat. But there are video's on You Tube that will help.
  2. Id buy it and I own a bass boat that 1 yr old. Im also 6'4, Id fish out of it no problem.
  3. Nothing wrong with picking up nothing but that one bait you wanna learn and get confidence in. The key is to do it at the right time. If it was a buzzbait the prespawna nd post spawn are prime times. Jig times Id suggest prespawn. Big swim baits are the same, full moon in january and febuary are great times. The key to all of them is fishing it at the proper cadence, with the proper color. I never suggest just one rod, take 3. All same technique, but with different colors and/or weights. Timing is really the key.

  6. Im using the Revo's for everything, but flipping was the reason I changed to begin with. The drag is second to none. For what its worth I used to use Curado's and Chronarch's and they dont compare. Drag slipping issue's are no longer a problem with the Revo. Even the Revo S is a great reel and very reasonable in price.
  7. Wow. They wouldnt sell em here. The shows had em just but just for display.
  8. Gemini Sports is where my jerseys come from each season. Id never wear something advertising a company's product unless I was getting something in return. Why should I pay to advertise for someone? You can design a cool jersey, without putting a company's logo on it. Its actually kinda fun designing jerseys. Make something unique that is yours.

  11. Just received my new Veritas rods today. I gotta say they are amazing. Yes I am sponsored by Pure Fishing and Abu Garcia. However I am not obligated to fish their rods. It was a choice I made because they are great rods. I am a big fan of affordable quality rods, the Veritas is every bit of that and more. Pure Fishing also owns Fenwick and I love them, but this is a better rod in every way. I looked at one of the Veritas rods. Not impressed. Very flimsy guides, and they did not seem sensitive at all. But they were light. Probably just from the lack of handle material, though. Im impressed that you can tell all that info just by looking at a rod. They are not flimsy at all, and they are very sensitive. Im sponsored by another rod company and have fished alot of those available, the Veritas is for real. Is it equal to a $250 Dobyns rod? No. Does it shine above and beyond the $129 rod market? Absolutely. Does it cost $129? Nope. This thread was asking about rods under $100. Did you have a suggestion? Also, the handle material is the same as alot of rods, Wright & McGill wring a bell? Not directed at you, bu there is so much uneducated opinions here. How bout fishing someting before you post about it. OK, misunderstaning. I significantly handled a Veritas. And yes, the guide feet (at least on the spinning rods) are very flimsy. And you can test for sensitivity. I think people are impressed alot at the Veritas cause it is visually appealing and its the latest and greatest. Fair enough. I agree the look flimsy, but I grabbed and wiggle them and they are fine. If ya step on em IM sure they will bend, but others do as well. The casting rods are of course much shorter and closer to the rod. It is an appealing rod, but it is also a nice rod. Those wanting something a bit nicer and lighter can take a look at the Verdict which is claimed to be lighter and more sensitive. I can attest to it being lighter as I played with it at the show. I dont worry much about the rod durability. Consider the fact that Iaconelli fished them all year. He was also involved in design so Im sure there is a reason for the tall first guide on the spinning model.
  12. lol ;D ;D Good luck man, my wife has always done great. IM sure you will be pleased.
  13. The answer is yes, it will work great. I have 16 Powell rods and I can tell you that the 5 power crank bait rods are very versatile. Throw just about any reaction bait you like, buzz baits, spinner baits, crank baits, top waters(not so much the smaller ones), rip baits. I think you will find it ot be a great rod for alot of different baits.

  16. There is a video with Bub Tosh and the Irod as to why is certain situations this rod makes more sense. I think Franco touched on it, Here is the link. http://www.***.com/video.html?pcode=IRGC711BPR I own one and have fished it. Its quite impressive, but it is technique specific. This rod is for punching, but we also refer to those baits as inline jigs. Its all about the heavy cover. That said I usually use a MH rod, either a Powell 7105 of a Powell 734. For deep jigs like a one ton I prefer the 804.
  17. I think it depends on the types of places he fish's and the size of those fish. For example, Id never throw a senko on anything less then a 7'4" MH rod on the Cal Delta or Clear Lake. Big Fish and heavy cover I want more rod to control a big fish. Open water lakes and smaller fish on average and Id go with a 7ft MH. I dont use anything smaller then 7ft. So you know more about how and what he fish's. So select length based on that. A MH rod with a fast tip is what I prefer. There are so many brands that are nice. In my area they have alot of good sticks on clearance specials. Fenwick, Abu Garcia, Shimano, Lamiglas are just a few to consider.
  18. X2 I was just talking to a buddy about that today. Never would I buy from a pro, they're way too hard on there stuff. Generalizing is a bad thing. Actually most pro's keep there boats in tip top shape. They are always on display and are kept looking good. Some will put the boat trough the riggers from time to time, but most take care of their stuff. I have a friend that purchased a Ranger from Brent Ehrler lasy year, and 2 friends that bought boats from Byron Velvick. All three have been great boats, and probably get more abuse with their new owners.

  22. Actually that works very well. A friend of mine has been doing the same thing for quite some time. He gets those same pieces at Home Depot for a few bucks fr 4 I think.
  23. Yep, Ive had my Cabelas guide wear for 10 years now. Its still as good as the day I got it. Im dry and warm all day in the rain and wind. Now avg the cost per year and ask if the price is worth it? I think so, $45 a year and going down as I continue to get good use of it.
  24. Im not saying its not on him, it most definitely is. If he is fishing light line and setting like that it can be a problem. If he is breaking 20lb Big Game on a hook set, he better change his hook set if he is gonna fish with the big boys. I sometimes get frustrated at how difficult it is to break it when I hang up. Then again, since I fish tournaments in the same area, and will also be moving up, tell him to keep at it.
