  1. makelure is great. also try tackleunderground and look in the hardbait how-to section. several in there
  2. make your own. Get a bullet weight the size you want. get the hook you want. get the screw locks they use for shakey heads. now use a hacksaw blade to cut a groove in the head. take the screw lock and slide over the hook. slide both of those into the bullet weight. mold that with bondo. bam your very own bullet head jig with the hook you want, the best bait keeper around and you made it for cheap.
  3. i attach my blades directly to my hook, i used a moddified poisontail mold. i use the standard blade and i dont bend them. i have not had any problems with them (3/8oz) at any speed or retrieve style.
  4. thanks guys they have been running fine with the new reel.
  5. i was using a swimbait as the body. no skirt. i do have an update. i bought a Lews 7.1:1 it is the same gear ration as the last reel just brand new. i made another couple baits and i made one just plain and simple. a bead and a blade and it was the big blade. the water was a little murky but i feel like it was straight. i hope to get to a clearer lake and test them again.
  6. ok the smaller blade didnt help. ilast night it looked like it did. just tried it and it still leaned.
  7. So the buzzbaits i made from the poisontail mold want to lean to the right as they come in. i put a smaller blade and the problem is fixed. The bait is a 3/8 oz bait and the blade is the standard size 3....which is for 3/8 and 1/2 baits. I dont want the smaller blade, i dont want a heavier buzzbait. i want the bigger blade with the 3/8oz head. the bait tracks true, just the body leans to the right when you look at it coming in. any ideas on how to fix this are greatly appreciated.
  8. we had ping pong size hail and just across base Boeing recorded 89MPH winds. It was nuts. there are people who wont have power until Monday. I did get a video. ill post today some time.
  9. I was nervous too, but i think it adds to fun of everything. i grabbed a cup of coffee and some needle files and just took my time. came out great. too bad we had 70MPH winds here last night and 30 today. i probably wont be able to get a video

Bearsbaits use to have a scoppernog colorant
  11. I like EVA, the rubberized, then plastic.
  12. Forgot to mention. The part i impressed myself with was with one bend on the buzzbait wire i can run it in the same groove as the spinnerbait so i only had to mod it for the spinnerbait and both fit. :archery-095: NAILED IT!!!
  13. I modded my first Poison tail so i could have larger heavy duty hooks and a screw lock trailer keeper. This one now does spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. From 2 moddified Poison tail molds i can now make flipping jigs, swim jigs, bladed jigs, spinnerbaits, and buzzbaits. I hope to have some videos tomorrow of the spinnerbait and buzzbait.
  14. I just moddified my poison tail mold so i can make spinnerbaits and buzzbaits with it. BUT....how do you guys powdercoat the heads of spinnerbaits and buzzbaits?
  15. i fish the ponds on the Kansas wildlife website. they all work out about the same for me. Mostly 1-2lers with an ocassional 3lber mixed in.
