  1. Will Bill ever fish in a large resorvoir with wind? Every time I tune in he's visiting uncle Larry's 3 acre pond with absolutely NO wind. The only condition that changes on his show seem to be the temperature.
  2. Only been into bass fishing about a year, and with work don't go near as often as I'd like. Early on I went out and bought a bunch of equipment, mostly inexspensive stuff. Would you all mind letting me know what I'm missing, what baits you would use with each set up, and what I shouldn't be living with out? Current set up: 3 Baitcasters: 2 6'6 MH (one 5.1:1 reel rat & other 6.3:1) 1 6'0 M with 6.3:1 reel ratio 2 spins: Both 6'6 M action Only thing I can think to would be a 7'0 cranking set up.......again, I'm pretty green so open to ALL suggestions!
  3. I've had my boat out 3 times now -- Been fishing farm ponds for the last couple years and bought my first boat this winter. Man, am I struggling! I think I'm getting better each time out, but what tips can you share with this amateur lake fishermen? I've tried many different lures in many different locations in many different conditions at different speeds etc. (well 3 times) HELP!
  4. I bought my first boat this winter and I've only had it out 3 times. I think I've gotten a bit better each time out on the lake, but I could really use some pointers regarding boat positioning. I'm in windy Oklahoma which means I might need to invest in a drift anchor. Does anyone use an anchor in rough waters? My tm is only 43lbs which for an 18ft fiberglass boat should be bigger. Thanks
  5. (fiberglass) You spend many hours on the lake and before storing the boat until next time, what product to people use to remove the grime? Also, what do people use in their livewells? I know mine are starting to get funky.
  6. My classic: 1981 Ranger 370V 1978 Merc 175hp (rebuilt in 1997) 43 lb Motorguide trolling motor Eagle 320 at the helm Humminbird 27 at the bow Hotfoot 6" jackplate new carpet 2 aerated livewells She's old, but I love her!
  7. Rookie map reader -- Any sites you can recommend or books? I've been mostly a farm pond fisherman but just bought my first boat and I need to get better at reading lake maps and locating bass. Thanks
  8. A senko is exactly what I worked the longest -- The problem is their pond has a lot of cover. Even so, I'm able to catch fish out there often. It was what is was, a bad day.
  9. Hey guys, Coming from central Oklahoma today where we desperately need a good rain. I recently visited my in-law's pond & it looks bleak. I tried just about everything in the tackle box from the bank (can almost reach the deepest point from bank) with absolutely no luck. On Christmas day it was 65 degrees & clear skies so you would have thought I'd at least get a strike. I have fished this pond a ton & can count on one hand the times I haven't caught anything. The water level is real low, so should this not even be fished until we get rain or is there something I should have done better or differently? If it gets any lower my fat-in-law will need to consider diggin a pump for future problems. From the looks of the dam & banks, it's down a good 4-5 ft. It regularly sits at 13 ft at a good level.
  10. Well, I just bought my first boat. So I would say getting used to that, perfecting the drop shot, jigs, & c-rig.

  12. Edmond, OK here! Wish I had more lakes in the area. Several good crappie holes this way, but not exactly the best bass fishing. At least that I know of.
  13. 1981 Ranger 370V, 18 ft, Merc 175 HP, rebuilt in 97, new starter this year, new carpet, new jack plate, hotfoot, lots of extras. I love this classic.
