  1. Hey there. I grew up in Florida and really miss what all it has to offer. I am planning a trip down to fish Okeechobee sometime in the next few months. I know how frustrating it can be to find places to go fishing without getting shot at. I deal with the same thing up here in VA. Anyway, just wanted to say hey and welcome to the forum.
  2. I live real close to the Shenandoah River and excellent Smallmouth fishing. However, I have always fished for Largemouth having grown up in Florida. Am I going to try many of the same presentations and just downsize them or do I need to come up with new tactics? Also, I have never been much of a river/current fisherman anyway and would love to hear your best tip on how to fish currents correctly for Smallmouth. Thanks ahead of time. Jon
  3. Hey everyone and thanks for the welcome messages. I appreciate it. Went to the Eastern Sports Show up in Harrisburg, PA yesterday. What a great day spent with my 10 year old son and now I am really ready to get out on the water! Have a great week all... Jon
  4. I live about an hour and half west of Northern Virginia near Winchester. There is excellent fishing out here in Lake Frederick and on the Shenandoah River. I'd like get together with you if you like to fish. I have a pretty decent level of experience and am always willing to teach what I know but am also willing to learn as well. Let's get together sometime.
  5. Hello all. I grew up in Florida where I learned to catch nice sized bass in farm ponds mostly. After moving to Virginia, because of the military, I joined a club and fished amateur tournaments in and around Northern Virginia. I haven't done much "serious" fishing for a few years now but am looking to meet some folks and get back out there pretty regularly. My strengths have always been plastics, more specifically lizards and the carolina rig. I would love to learn more about cold weather fishing and deep water fishing. Let me know if you'd like to get together for a fishing trip.
