Uses Rods And Reels - What Models To Look For
It's that time for yard sales and flea markets to fire up, through the years I've been an avid market mole but not an angler while going since I'm still new to fishing. So I'm asking everyone their input on what makes/models of rods and reels throughout time that would be a no brainer to pick up if you saw it sitting on a sale rack at a good price The only area I'm good at right now is inspecting (helps to have years of QC experience), turned down a couple rods before because of problems Have at it, maybe even make this a sticky for others always asking for quality sensitive rods or built like a tank reels from days gone by that are deals waiting to be taken

I don't see why any would route for jr, if it wasn't for his last name no one would like him at all

Vanish
That's good to hear about the 8#, but the 4# is terrible. I never thought I would experience birds nests like in baitcasters on a spinning reel, not to mention some reels I tried it on couldn't even get casts out. Your opinion falls under the same category Memory is the the biggest complaint

Just Gotta Say This
What annoys me more is when there's a trash can near the junk they leave behind. Fishing line getting sucked into the propeller? That's a tuffy though, since getting a lure stuck out in the water and having it break off, can't really do much about that. I mean I get frustrated hooking a broken line every now and then but it's not really their fault

Which Reel
Wait, is someone trying to say shimano is like toyota but recalls 14 million reels in a year?

How Much Do You Bring?
1 fishing back pack with assorted plastic cases, with all lures and tools, I ditched the tackle box a while ago 1 medium sized net, it also doubles as snake defense (use the rim to hold down) 2 rods max, none specific since I carry a lot of different lure/styles I ditched the camera in favor for the camera phone, 5mp is good enough

Mcdonald's
Yep, it also added to the fact that it's never their fault and it has to be someone elses

Need Quick Guidance On Storing A Fish For Awards
I got a hold of the PFBC, my local officer stopped by to check it out, confirmed its a Brown with a unique pattern and length of 23". I also got it weighed at the closest registered weight station, 4lb. I know it seems like a rounded number but thats what they ended up doing

Need Quick Guidance On Storing A Fish For Awards
Go for it, I tried to get on there several times but registration is closed. The creek is Monocacy though I'll bring it down regardless, maybe the official will add more info. My scale is terrible anyway so a real weigh in will be much better, thanks for all the replies so far guys

Need Quick Guidance On Storing A Fish For Awards
No worries, that's why im on here I was under the impression of PFBC's guidelines on trout, which quick identifies brooks with worm-like patterns, which this trout has, and browns having red dots on the quick guide which this one doesn't, though this has white or lighter color on just the edge of its fins, then it points out it being a brown from the few or none spots on the tail. This is confusing because all the identification charts I look at is pointing to either species. Also found out there was article about Tiger Trout released by the PBFC which is a mix of the two.

Need Quick Guidance On Storing A Fish For Awards
I believe this is a brookie, from all the photos I've looked through it shouldn't be a brown. The Brooks are only 2lb minimum. If I'm wrong let me know

Need Quick Guidance On Storing A Fish For Awards
I caught an angler award fish in my state(PA), the problem is I want to store it since officiating places are all closed now. How's the best way preserve this hog? Right now I have it sitting in an cooler with ice, but is there a better way like adding water to it? Just for some info regarding the catch... Picture of the hog: Unofficial stats 4+lb 22" Brook Trout Angler award program states 2lb+ and 15in+ http://www.fish.state.pa.us/awardapp.pdf

Great Weekend
Mainly Saturday, early morning trout fishing, caught 8 nice sized rainbows, 4 each between my wife and I. Decided to finally check out the closest bass pro shop (90mi away) bought some gear. Swung over to cabelas and found a St Croix premier 5' UL half off and a 500 Sonora half off. Bought them threw on some seaguar 4lb and hit up the local lake by cabelas. Tried out the new combo on some bass and caught 5 LM beauties, and even pulled the biggest one through heavy weeds!! Photo of the biggest one of the day Man that was some fightin I'll never forget!

Disproportion Trout
Ok so I started out trout fishing, gotten pretty good at it actually. I was fishing below a dam and caught this one, has a weird body, So far with all the trout I've caught I never seen this. Thought it had a tumor actually, but it was all meat Never saw others like this, wonder if it's really normal or an oddity

Man, I Had Forgotten How Nasty A Pickerel's
With the pickerel at my local lake, they are overabundant, it's been ruining the the population of every other species in the lake. Worse part is they need to be 18" to keep. The majority of them are smaller than 16". No one wants them. No one likes them. The lake gets stocked with 10-12" trout, juvenile walleye (which no ever catches, since their eaten up) The pickerel were stocked in the 10's of thousands over a decade ago, it's amazing that there's other fish in that lake. It's the only lake I could care less about what people do after they bring them to shore. I however do the right thing and put them back.
