  1. Well I tried to hibernate and forget about the lake as best I could but the warm weather got me. I decided on this for my 2014 Retro Upgrade.... no more hassling with battery chargers or paying 'the man' for electricity! http://www.altestore.com/store/Packaged-Systems/Off-Grid-Cabin-Systems-Solar-Packages/altE-50W-Module-with-Sunguard-45A-PWM-Charge-Controller-Kit/p11161/ I really wanted a wind turbine that puts out 20 Amps / hour in 20mph wind, but you know how back seat boaters always complain about boat position and getting decapitated... I'd try to make the trout tourney. No idea how to catch them but i've been meaning to learn for awhile now.
  2. Technology sucks but something tells me your gonna be allright oh yeah it's this: Dammmm that sled is NIIIICE!
  3. Howdy all, Sounds like the fishing was tough at the fall classic but a good time was had nonetheless. I was cracking up over the razor clam nazi jokes. Maybe if you showed up with a nice gift like this book she'd 'go a little easier'. I sure havent got out nearly as much as I'd like but i have squeezed in a few hours during weeknights. It always seems crazy to drag the whole rig out to the lake for 2 hours of fishing but when i'm out there it's all worth it. I've been the most luck lately with shad colored crankbaits and jigs. I'm spotting the most bass about halfway up the creek arms, staging right around 10ft deep. Hitting the green vegetation and staying away from the stuff that is dying off has also been good for me. Dams and rocks dont seem as good to me as they are during summer. Anyways, that's my $.02 Keep the lines tight.
  4. Hey guys just catching up on this thread. I wish i could make it but it's my daughter's bday that weekend. I probably would have held everyone up anyway: the lady at the dock woulda ran out of bleach or had a breakdown trying to work my old boat over. lol You guys need to post the top 5 weigh in's on here... I wanna see someone go 20+ !
  5. That's a helluva walleye. Wow. Glad they were biting again. Do you think they're starting to move out of summer mode?
  6. that 225 is probably gonna put some serious pressure on the fuel system. buy a couple feet of backup fuel line and keep it in the boat.. costs $2 but it could be VERRY handy to have out on the lake. I learned that one the fun way
  7. Scrogglet tearin it up! Bet he likes the boat better than a 'yak. Dizzamm! That thing is awesome. Drive gently and and stay away from Critzer Blue: I'm shocked everytime i see you catch something on that 7'' Slammer. I bet you gotta be a little amazed everytime something chases that tree limb down. Is it fall yet?
  8. I like those finesse skirts too. I feel like it helps pickups. Thanks for sharing.
  9. I sure don't get out there as much as I used to so i'm trying to pick my lakes right. Hit Nebo last weekend but missed that early morning magic. Got a couple with ok size but nothing real special. I always feel like the bass are more experienced than me on that lake (doesnt help that i'm always fishing it when it's dead calm) I just cant get enough quality presentations to really have a good day there. This most recent weekend we camped at osage and it was a lot more forgiving. I hadn't been to that lake in 8 years and didn't know anything about bass back then. It's just awesome to go to a small lake that fishes so large because of the structure/cover options all over the lake. The primitive camping options are also good as any I've seen on a state lake at least. Not only did I catch em everywhere I got into a couple of real nice ones too: 4lb 12oz almost right away.. the kid couldn't believe it... Got another decent one the next morning that went 3lb 8oz I'll be going back
  10. Heck ya. By the looks of it that's an older, smarter, bass that woulda weighed more even if it was getting enough to eat. Nice Pig! I think most guys would settle for 8 if that was one of em!
  11. Thanks for looking out. The Ford was a darn good truck. The transmission probably wouldnt have gone out if i hadnt been clever and put in a quart of transmission fluid with additive when i changed the filter. It wasnt afraid of some gravel either Thanks. My WRX was the same color... I liked it alot more when i was 26 years old lol.
  12. Well gents my towing hassles are over for about 10 years.. The old rig needed filled up every hundred miles but i already towed the boat over that this weekend and the Toyota is still over a half tank of gas. Hoo rah. The thing is seriously fun to drive without the boat. I didnt push it that hard on the test drive cause i didnt want to scare the salesman but you can do some real stupid offroad driving if your were into that sort of thing
  13. That's why springtime is the best: the big ones dont have as much energy to pull off those kinds of getaways. Battle makes ya better... that's what I tell myself at least..
  14. I got a real good feeling about this low pressure coming in... looks like it might have to be a half day
  15. Pretty busy time of year for me but i'm definatley up to try Wabunsee and think the fee is worth it. Also you OP guys can bypass the construction on 56 by taking a Left onto Haskell off of 23rd street in Lawrence. Just take it straight south to where it stops in a T and take a right onto County highway 458. That leads right to 59 HWY South which meets 56 past the construction. I guess that sounds like a pain in the ass now that i write it but compared with dragging a boat past the 15 stoplights going through 23rd and south Iowa route it's pretty nice.
