  1. Thank you very much for the responses gentlemen.
  2. I was wondering if any of you run Gamblers and have any input as to how the ride is? I know they're speed demons but is the ride acceptable in rough water or will it just pound the crap out of you? Would the ride be comparable with a Bullet 20XD or a Triton Tr20 or Tr20X? I spoke to someone who owns one and all he could tell me is it's fast. Thanks
  3. You'll love it! I purchased a Lund this past year instead of a bass boat and it was the best choice I could have made. They're no speed demons but the ride is second to none especially when the water is rough. Lund's are extremely popular here in southern Ontario I think largely because of their versatility and durability. The multi-species approach is nice too. I bought a 2005 Mr.Pike 18 with a 150 Optimax and I have dragged the tub through 6 inches of water with my 101 Maxxum. So shallow water isn't an issue. It sucks getting blown away tournament morning by everything, even the Rangers , but you'll be nice and dry and not a bead of sweat. Enjoy shopping. Take it easy Urs Duelberg
  4. I've heard that older Maxxum models could be retrofitted with lift assist for a couple hundred bucks. I am not sure about other models but Minn Kota could likely clear that question up for you.
  5. I mounted a 101 Maxxum Pro on my Lund last sping and it absolutly rocks. There is no more smashing the trolling motor down and wondering if it just broke off the front of your boat. You'll take it for granted after a short while and not even notice it anymore, that is until you get in someone else's boat and smash the motor down. "Sorry buddy." Get the lift assist, You'll love it! Take it easy I
  6. I tow my 18 foot Lund with a Dodge Dakota 4x4 with the 4.7L V8 engine. It's a great tow vehicle with plenty of power but it sucks back the fuel like nothing you've ever seen. What a fuel pig! > Moral to the story .............. buy a full size truck with a small V8. Take it easy Urs Duelberg
  7. A good friend of mine has a 1998 17 foot Javelin with a 130 Evinrude on the back. I'm not sure of the model number or name off hand but I think it's similar or the same as the rig you're looking at. I must say it is probably the best 17 foot bass boat on the market. It clips along at a nice speed and it can handle a chop half decently. For an entry level boat I would highly recomend it. Take it easy Urs Duelberg
  8. Thank you very much, I will do that.
  9. I have been having a brutal time setting up my Lund and any dealer support in the Toronto area (within two hours drive) has been dismal. Bass boats are no problem and there are quite a few talented people around who can set one up. I purchased a new 2005 Lund Mr. Pike 18 with a 25" 150hp Mercury Optimax. I am running a 21p Tempest Plus prop and have my motor mounted one hole up. The 21p is running 49 to 51mph @ 5000 to 5200rpm. This is by no means the right prop but I am purchasing no more props without any direction. So my question is: Has anybody here ever tried a jackplate on a Lund? If so with what results? Anybody with the same boat or similar (heck even aluminum) what kind of set-up are you running? Any help would be greatly appreciated Thank you and take it easy Urs Duelberg P.S. I know this is no "Bassboat" but try fishing from one and you might be very pleasantly surprised........until you're racing back to check in. ;D
