  1. just make sure you dont use to heavy of a hook on a floating solid frog or it will still sink. and frogs still work fine upside down, the bass dont care
  2. yum 5-6.5 inch money minnow or 5 inch fat money minnow but my biggest bass was caught on a 7 inch wacky rigged yum dinger
  3. i agree with marty but ive caught many bass on solid toads fished with the same stop and go retreive you use with a hollow frog. overall i prefer the solid frogs just because of the better hookups
  4. go on basspro.com and read all the bad reviews on something that you really want. trust me it works ( most of the time)
  5. i prefer live bait either in late fall or early spring. its not ideal to fish live bait during the spawn because you cant easily get your live bait on a nest like you can a lure. live bait is also okay after the spawn but not as effective as it is before.
  6. i would buy one but they are only in spinning on that site and i need a casting rod
  7. well its not the regular stren fluoro its the fluorocast, which i heard isn't as good. i guess ill give co-poly lines a try.
  8. well at bps one pack of p-line fluoro coated mono is 8.99 and stren 100% fluoro is 9.99 so its not really that much more expensive
  9. well i probably would chase it anyways just because im a 13 year old idiot
  10. unless youve got a 10 ton beast of a car why would you chase it
  11. but still they charge nearly if not as much for coated mono as 100% pure professional grade fluorocarbon. they are ripping you off.
  12. ok i know many people now use fluorocarbon coated nylon because they think it combines the advantages of fluoro and nylon lines. what i dont understand is since the fluorocarbon is see through in water a fish can still easily see the mono. it may seem smaller but i think these companies are just trying to trick you. anyone have any opinions on this?
  13. its basically just a lipless crank, like the cotton cordell super spot or rat-l-trap. even though the shape is somewhat different it acts the same. i have personally tried vertically jigging them in winter and it does work. as for open water, lipless cranks are a great search lure no matter how you fish them
  14. 1. 5 in. yum dinger 2. baby brush hog 3. 3/8 ounce spinnerbait in white and red Ive got so many more than that though so heres the rest of my list. 4. zoom trick worm 5. gambler bacon rind 6. zoom horny toad 7. 3.5 inch yum money minnow 8. storm golden shiner 9. yum mighty bug 10. 5 inch yum doozee tube
  15. sorry i didnt realize they were suspending baits
  16. dont rule out suspending hard plastic jerkbaits. they allow to keep a bait in the strike zone longer than a fluke and work incredibly well this time of year
  17. i gotta go with venom worm glue. it doesnt leave baits as hard as some other bait mending glues
  18. you should read mike iaconelli's panic box article. he says his go to baits when all else fails are single tail grubs, 4 inch finesse worms and inline spinners
  19. no the fish werent orange their nests were. someone who lives their told me they were tilapia
  20. i also saw huge tilapia everywhere by the shore. they were all spawning and had big orange nests. the largest one was very fat and about a foot and a half
  21. thanks for the advice. i wasnt able to get live bait because i forgot to bring money to buy some but i had some success there. the strangest thing i caught was an alligator. i was fishing a square lipped crank when i snagged a 3.5 foot alligator. i had to cut the line since i wasnt even considering going near it. i saw a few alligator gar which i think is what you thought your chain pickerel was. the one i saw was easily over 4 foot which is to big to be a pickerel. it was pretty obvioes these fish were highly pressured because nothing except some creature baits worked
  22. My family and i are travelling down to orlando florida so im going fishing at lake toho in kissimee. im planning fishing the weeds with soft plastic swimbaits and soft plastic jerkbaits. im only aiming for a trophy and im talking any fish over 7lbs to break my record. i dont care about numbers. i will use live bait if i have to but i prefer artificials. any advice would be greatly appreciated
  23. i like to use either the yum doozee for a big bite or 4 inch zoom tubes and 3.5 inch fat gitzits for more of a finesse approach. my favorite colors are black and blue, coffee, sunfish, green watermelon and perch
  24. yes but he said 1 BIG FISH. if you catch a 5 lb for one day of fishing in a tournament you wont win. but if you catch 5 2-3 pound fish youre more likely to win. (by the way i wasnt talking about the smaller soft plastic swimbaits i meant those giant 2-4 ounce ones used in california)
  25. i thought power worms were to thin to flip. what size weight do you use for it?
