  1. Im thinking you are turning the tension knob..the drag is on the handle it is star shaped. The tension knob is on the same side as the drag, the brakes are on the other side of the reel. Try this..set the brakes to zero and hold your rod up and press the thumb bar to see how quickly your bait falls to the floor, adjust the tension knob until the bait slowly falls to the floor with out backlashing. Now set the brakes to around 6-7 til you get used to casting and then later try using less brakes. Hope this helps.
  2. If your like me and use a book to run your line thru when spooling then just angle your reel the opposite direction the side its starting to fill up to much on til it evens out. Works for me.
  3. Very nice reels! Cant wait to get my hands on the XT.
  4. I would try taking it apart and soaking the anti-reverse bearing in lighter fluid a few hours then dry it and then a few drops of oil to it.
