  1. I have marshaled previously and I have heard it is because they have a group life insurance policy to cover all marshals in case something catastrophic were to happen to you. Your SSN is your identifier to prove who you are so you can get paid out if the worst occurred.
  2. Yes, the “keep” season for SM starts June 16 but you can C&R all you want from the May opener until then. Never fished Lake Owen but there are a million northern WI lakes with lots of SM so handpicking one is tough.
  3. Brrrr!!! Not sure why they cancelled that BFL today as it looked like it was going to be 40 degrees?!? Brutal cold the next few days but then a warming trend while we are there. Any of you ever fish a Ned out there? Also any idea on depths to target with such cold water? Not sure if LOZ Bass sulk in the deep or still just suspend off those bluff walls always regardless.
  4. Hey all, My buddy and I are making a trip down to LOZ from Wisconsin next week March 5-10. Any good areas you guys could recommend for us to try considering this wicked winter we’re having? I’m sure the water will be much colder than normal and of course we were hoping it would be a normal spring when we planned this a few months back but we’re going to give it a go anyways. Any tips on locations or baits to try would be greatly appreciated or if anyone has details on current water temps and conditions that would be awesome as well. Thanks!
  5. Don't forget another classic cold water bait: the Rapala Jigging Rap preferably 7 and 9 sizes. They are lethal when the water is cold and smallies are still deep on the breaks.
  6. I really enjoy fishing slowly and methodically, whether that be dragging a football jig on deep rocks, a dropshot or dobbing a Texas rig in the weeds. I do really enjoy throwing a swim jig or square bill though too but have never been a power fisherman on the bank and usually stay offshore. I don't even think I have thrown a spinnerbait in over 3 years and am probably the only bass fisherman on earth who doesn't like frog fishing!
  7. That's awesome that mudhole.com uses my picture for their St.Croix Freshwater blanks. I haven't seen it used anywhere in a little while. St croix loved that pic for awhile, they used it in several ad campaigns
  8. Thedigitaloasis.com great site!
  9. 6'9" ML XF Avid- can't be beat for the price
  10. Online they are 4.99 a bag at Academy right now, free shipping over $39 and no tax for us out of state guys
  11. Why not just buy another Diesel? They're only like 60 bucks and you said they were your favorite rod. I love diesels for square bill fishing-got 3 of them for that!
  12. I am also a fan of Kentucky Lake. Only made the trip a couple times, but I have really enjoyed myself down there.
  13. Net Bait Paca Chunk or Keitech Swing Impacts
  14. Love me some Poor Boy's Tubes!
  15. Learn to fish deeper, basstracker, and try to get your smallmouth on. Smallies have long tails and I've had some of my best successes in weeknighters with smallmouths. There are also plenty of deep LM in Monona/Mud/Waubesa - just gotta get out of your comfort zone a tad. DD cranks, carolina rigs, jigs, tubes will all catch fish out deep. Don't be afraid to chuck a big ol swimbait too* (like 4-6", no California stuff). *You may catch more esox than anything, but thats the way it goes when youre searching for bigger fish.
