my 89 tracker txw17 floats in very little water like less than a feet most times, but its hard to run it even with the trolling motor. almost blew out my lower unit going through a mud flat in the mississippi backwaters. found out i was in a foot of water and had to paddle my way back from where i came from!

mine is a day to day basis, and depends on the lake and its structure. but i mainly throw out jigs, spinnerbaits, senkos and crankbaits when possible.

for me, i developed my love for jig fishing by fishing a heavily loaded lake full of bass. it'll help alot with your confidence, techniques and colors you find are working.

i have a cheap walmart everstart 105 AH battery and works perfectly everytime and has even ran for 7-8 hour days(on low power with occasionaly full blast power).

i too had an interesting experience this week. me and a fishing buddy was out on a lake and just after some brunch, i needed to tick but there was no bathrooms around nor were we anywhere near shoreable land. and so i asked my buddy(who owns the boat) if i could take a quick leak. And obviously it was windy and rainy and as i got to the edge, i got my left foot planted well, but as i tried to find a good spot for my right, i slipped and next thing i know i hit the bottom of the lake(6fow) and of course i didnt have my lifevest on bc we were having brunch. panic quickly arose as the 6fow was 6fow but has like 2 feet of thick marsh and weeds. thankfully, i had read this thread a few days prior to going on my fishing trip and my panicking stopped and i knew i had to get to the motor and pull myself up from there. Not being much of a swimmer myself, my leg cramped to the motor and was glad i got to the motor when i did. my buddy wasnt much of a help when i kept saying to throw me my lifevest, but he got ahold of me with his lure retrever stick he had. Its definitly awaken me to be more cautious when on the waters.

i live about an hour away from them and hope to visit that place someday!

i use black/blue flakes. rigged normal and have had great success! just need to find a better way to rig it so that it dont get destroyed after one fish.

oh alright, just wondering since from what ive been searching around, everyone likes to use the two part epoxy.

my brothers been fly tying and i couldnt help but noticed that he was using hard head clear epoxy for fly heads and wanted to try and see if i can coat it on my cranks. heres the outcome. its rock solid, shiny and smooth(well kinda still need some practicing). Have anyone used this method yet? i personally like this method as its clean, already has a reusable brush and cures in just a few hours.

to get the scales, ive seen people used mesh screen. Painting a lure depends on the pattern, and how many layers of paint is needed. a bluegill pattern will take much much longer than a shad pattern. I've recently started painting with spraycans but i know alot of people like to use airbrush. look around this forum as well as tackleunderground for tips.

Hey guys, ive recently started painting my own bluegills and was wondering how all you guys paint the black gill. Im using spray cans as well so its abit tricky working with something soo small. Ive been using just a sharpie but recently it has started bleeding like so.

Just started painting cranks and i think im starting to get the hang of this. These were all done on regular spray cans lol so i think they are nice for spray cans and not airbrushed. here was the first one i ever did. after a few more researching on the colors and when to paint each layer i got this. someone then mentioned i should add some blue and the black mark on the gills and so i did. i think these came out really well!

it ended up being a cotton cordell lure. the lip looked very similar to mine!

it actually swims really really nice. just have to shave it slightly as it swims to the left when reeled in fast. which isnt a problem with me as i use this as a jerk bait. i have tried searching everywhere and can anyone identify this lure?

While shore fishing the other day, i came across this poor lure with no lip or hooks or anything on it but a really clean body. So i brought it home and look at it on how im going to repair it and saw that one of my rapala's had a very soft plasticky lip and thought i can use something similar! I had some clear styrene plastic from car model building and used that as a lip. I didnt get any before photos as i didnt think about it. Started off dremeling the excess off the old lip that was still there to give me a nice base to work with. After that, i simply drew a lip on the styrene and cut it and glue it on with cement. here is how it look with no shaping or sanding. While waiting for the lip to dry, i went ahead and added some feathers to the rear treble. once the cement dried, i used the dremel to shape the lip more evenly and eventually sand it off. heres the full shot. closer shot of the lip. now just waiting to go try it out and see how it swims!
